Clever, intelligent, good writer, kind of a dick. Admirable hatred of myth, religion, and superstition. Unfortunate politics, especially when deeming anarchism a "lineage of losers."

That's his charm.
That's to his detriment.
Also, going back and reading what he wrote before he became somewhat of a neo- con supporter, he was always an opportunist.

No, being something of an asshole is his charm. I find it pretty amusing.

He's a fucking degenerate drunk. While he pulls off the clever drunk act on TV, in person he's well-known for puking all over the place and/or showing up to functions smelling of vomit.
I have very little love for the Syrian Social Nationalist Party. It has a nasty anti-Semitic streak and a history of smashing Lebanese unions for the Syrian Baathists. But they have done two good things in their history. The first was signing the Pyongyang Declaration (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pyongyang_Declaration). The second was beating the snot out of Hitchens (http://wonkette.com/406373/hitchens-beaten-by-lebanese-thugs-in-lebanon).

This in itself shows the limitations of loud anti-clericalism as a political platform for the working-class. It was Orwell and Mussolini's favorite part of socialism as well. Look, it's funny as shit that the guy wrote a book about Mother Teresa called Missionary Position, but his work since then has been piss-poor - and it wasn't that great before.

his arogant drunken intellectual swagger would be good if he wasnt defending invasions at the same time.
