by books you mean novels?
I haven't read his novels (i have no idea why though, I'll get on them ASAP), but he's one of my favourite poets.

Don't worry about it, he just has books that are collections of his poems, and I got confused :P

Yea, Ham on Rye is one of his more famous books, I'll definitely see if I can scoop up a copy from the library, thanks :).

I recommend because its auto-biographica and i think its the better novels to undstand Bukowski

My favorite is Post Office. I know that PO and that era in Los Angeles, and I have friends who were postal workers at different time.

Because of its vivid description of working in that environment, the low level white collar worker's reality, the sharp portraits of bosses and co-workers, the daily life of a drinker, all the boredom of the job, the dreams of sex, the picture it paints of Los Angeles.
