I'm looking for a detailed exposition of the differences between the various editions (there are four) of William Godwin's Enquiry Concerning Political Justice and its Influence on Modern Morals and Manners, first published in 1793 and widely considered the first (implicitly) anarchist work.
As I understand it, the author grew timid after the first edition and toned down his rhetoric, especially against property, in subsequent editions. I'd like to know exactly what he changed in each edition; but I'd be satisfied to know just the differences between the first and fourth editions.
