View Full Version : The Center Point of American idiocy... ie Sarah Palin

So yeah... the infamous Sarah Palin who is responsible for a good portion of the fear mongering in America and is notorious for saying some of the most uneducated statements and doing some of the most damaging acts in the country is at it again.... Anyways, here is her recent spiel:

Dr. Laura. The Ground Zero mosque. Wikileaks. If there's a scandal, Sarah Palin is ready, BlackBerry in hand, to comment — and get some attention for herself, too.
NewsFeed isn't immune to the ease of posting Palin's reactions to the story of the day, especially if they contain word usage errors (http://newsfeed.time.com/2010/07/19/the-very-best-shakespalin-tweets/). And neither is most of the mainstream, or what Palin calls the "lamestream," media. And though Palin seemingly complains about the press's lack of focus, she's savvy enough to use social media to keep her name in the forefront of conversation.
In the past few days alone, she had a word-jumble moment while calling feminists "a cackle of rads," launched a string of pleas for President Obama to clarify his position on the plans to build a mosque near Ground Zero and (admirably) promoted (http://www.facebook.com/sarahpalin#%21/note.php?note_id=420211583434) the anniversary of women's suffrage on Facebook (while backing her "mama grizzly" candidates). Every time Palin (or her potential ghostwriter) (http://newsfeed.time.com/2010/07/15/does-sarah-palin-have-a-consultant-write-her-facebook-page/) tweets or posts on Facebook, her millions of fans and followers take notice and add their thoughts, regardless of the actual, substantial message.
For example, yesterday Palin defended Dr. Laura Schlessinger, the radio host who used the n-word 11 times on the air and then resigned to "reclaim [her] First Amendment rights." Palin tweeted that she should not "retreat," but "reload (http://twitter.com/SarahPalinUSA/status/21534515854)," and that Schlessinger is "even more powerful & effective w/out the shackles (http://twitter.com/SarahPalinUSA/status/21534562585)." All this defense for a woman who, two years ago, called Palin incompetent and a bad mother (http://www.salon.com/news/opinion/joan_walsh/politics/2010/08/18/sarah_palin_defends_dr_laura). That had to sting. Has Palin genuinely forgiven Schlessinger, putting differences aside for a common cause? Has she simply forgotten about the slight? Or is she glossing over Schlessinger's attack just to be contrarian?
We're not Palin, so we don't know her real motivations. But whether or not her motivations are noble or simply attention-grabbing (she does have a book to sell and a TV special to promote), America certainly takes notice. And when Palin gives her two cents on the controversy of the day, it pays back in spades.

So yeah, for whatever brilliant reason, Sarah Palin, one of the key leaders of the tea parties btw, is now giving support to a blatant racist trying to defend the actions and words of this person... It kinda makes you wonder...

It's sad really that someone that idiotic has that much power.

Yes, sometimes it's just too evident that there are powerful interests backing up joke political candidates and spokespeople.

They do not even try to be subtle anymore. I find it condescending.

Nothing in the western world beats the surrealism of American mainstream politics.

On the side, I really really really hope and pray (metaphorically) that the Palin/Gingrich/TPers are not able to derail NYCs mosque plans.

I know this sounds nationalist or whatever, but I would feel so ashamed of my country if these morons are allowed to do such a thing.

I don't think they will be able to. There may be court battles along the way and a few nut jobs who go vigilanty, but I don't think they will stop the mosque from being built. They will however, delay when it is built and they might, through the trials, be able to drain the mosque funds...

I haven't put extensive study into this, but she has to be the most singularly unqualified person to ever get that close to becoming vice president of the United States.

Here's the famous train wreck interview with Katie Couric, for anybody who want to reminisce. Priceless.

She's such a cutie ;) She would have defended Marx (her mortal enemy) if she could find a way to fit it into her greed, avarice, and elitism.
It makes me want to punch my tears that anyone takes her (or any tea partiers) seriously.

lol, yeah. She is without doubt, one of the craziest things to hit American politics. I will give her credit for being original in her stupidity when compared to the other idiots who have come and passed. The only person I fear more than her is Glenn Beck, but some people here say that I should fear this Alex Jones person more... :bored:

I dont fear Alex Jones becuase he is easily seen as a cook. Politically, noone is going to take him seriously. But his activism, I actually respect. He likes to get in the way of cops and speak out against tyranny of the state and big business/globalism.
IDK tho. that may all be wrong. I would think people would see Beck as a cook too, and yet many people take him absolutely seriously...

Fuck Alex Jones

Did you hear about how he proclaimed that a racial war would be invoked solely because of the new movie Machete that will be released in theaters soon? That was probably the funniest of all theories I've heard him spout off about.

I think we would have bigger issues than where to get laughter if she got in to the white house.

Which is why Palin, like Beck/Limbaugh/whoever, will never get near the White House. Its the same reason why her political influence is so grossly exaggerated - she has the celebrity and media attention but no actual position of power or machine to back her. In short, Sarah Palin is fast on the way to becoming just another talking head

You think so? I think you maybe right, but her political clout is still strong among a lot of people. The right is still not out. Who knows who they might dig up later in the future.

You think so? I think you maybe right, but her political clout is still strong among a lot of peopleAs does Glenn Beck (or so I believe - I don't really care about US politics). She's a media figure with a high media profile but that's all. She's also anathema to everyone outside of this narrow listening base. Trust me, Sarah Palin's political career is effectively over. The bad news is that you'll be hearing a lot more from her on the radiowaves

It seems like when their political career goes sour, then turn to the airwaves to tilt policy to the right. It's amazing.

Assuming that she actually does have power... if she did become president, we would have some big ass problems as a country but also as leftists especially if she turned Glenn Beck into an adviser (:crying:) reason being, is that Beck has, on his show, called for witch hunts by saying that he would like to see the government infiltrate any anarchist or marxist organization and then crash it in some matter. Also, if Palin wins, what little fan base she has will become so full of themselves to the point in which the shit and hassle that they cause society will cause people to sink to their rhetoric and their half ass and full ass lies.

Another genius evil of american democracy. Put ideologues on the front line on both sides, so you are nearly forced to vote for a left-leaning business apologists or a right-leaning business apologist.
Vote for Obam/McCain or Obama/McCain will take us to socialsim/capitalism. It is a sick game, that I am ashamed to say I, admittedly naively, take part in :(

People (both for and against) Sarah Palin and "Palinism" (LOL) are fascinated by her because she's a different breed of political animal that is rarely seen: someone who basically say whatever is on her mind at the time. She has an "ordinary" background that a lot of people find appealing...or at least they did in Alaska, where we used to see images of her pulling fish out of a gillnet in Bristol Bay on the news, where she worked in the summer. Compare that to what some see as Obama's rather esoteric, intellectual background and you can see why she has some pull.

Although currently her status is relegated to being just another reactionary media blowhard, in a field that's already saturated with reactionary blowhards.
