First off I would like to say great band, their musics was very insperational to the Hardcore scene and all of Darby's lyrics were gold.

I was watching What We Do is Secret tonight and the first 3 minutes of the movie just changed my view of Darby Crash. As it turns out he's a fascist, and an anti-communist (I find this funny because I have always thought of them as anarchists.)

Do any of you other punk rock historians know this? It feels like I just lost a good friend.

Yeah, Darby Crash was a fascist. It's a shame because their music is really good.

It's really funny, yet kinda sad at the same time to compare this clip with the one of Darby in Death of Western Civilization, even though this guy is an actor. In DoWC, he is so fucked up beyond belief that it's hard to believe he even has a brain.

He also talks about "wetbacks" in DoWC, so you can see his racist tendencies too. As apolitical or quasi-left as hardcore punk was/is as a whole, it definitely had a strong right-wing undercurrent in certain scenes.

Yeah, they represented Darby pretty poorly in What We Do Is Secret, they tried to make him seem like he was more than what he was.

In DoWC he was barley literate and in WWDiS he spoke like Shakespeare.

I haven't seen What We Do Is Secret or the Decline Of Western Civilization but yeah, based on that clip it seemed like they were portraying him as very well spoken and articulate, when based on actual interviews of him he seems like he has to think through saying very simple things.
