View Full Version : Web hosting?

Does anyone have any suggestions for a good host for a forum? I just registered a domain on GoDaddy, and immediately regretted it after a cursory Google search. Fortunately, I didn't buy the webhosting. I'm thinking about Key-Systems, the people who do Pirate Bay, but I'd prefer a U.S. host, because I'm a chauvinist. Thoughts?

I know some folks who are using ProHosting (http://www.prohosting.com/). They don't have any complaints.

because the price is reasonable and they don't censor no matter what. Not a lot of fancy bonus features or anything, though, if that matters.

That looks great, but how difficult would you say it would be to set up a forum there while knowing little to nothing about the technical side, like "mySQL" and such? I don't even know what that is.
Hostgator is in my experience very good, low priced and has excellent service.

Well, it depends what forum software you're using - I don't think they have one built in. It's shouldn't be too difficult to figure out. Technical things like mySQL are fairly easy and customer support is really good. There are lots of online guides to help you set forums, etc. up if you have trouble.
EDIT: And, of course, it's pay-as-you-go, so you don't spend a ton of money and then get ripped off if you don't use a lot of space. MySQL is a penny a day and domains are like $8 a year.
