I've thinking about doing a banner drop from the roof of a building in my town. Advice, please?

Is this a public or private building? Make sure you are aware of any regulations, penalties, or any other sort of precaution you will have to take.

highway overpass bridges (pedestrian or vehicle) are generally easier than a building but basically you'll just need to make it big enough to be seen and have some way to attach it to hold it in place like weights.
