Anyone living there now? How is the place? How is the job opportunity? How easy getting drugs is? Is there any leftist group over there? Generally, how is life there?

Politically, I suspect that there's a bunch of eco-anarchist hipster nutbars there. That contagion infects the milieu throughout the USA, though, so...

I don't know how many Stalin flag enthusiasts you'll find there.

Getting drugs there is really easy. I know from experience.

Have no idea what the job market is like.

I see you've got your priorities straight.

From what I understand, it's pretty much like Portland: Pros: Lots of drugs, good amount of cafés, beer, and wine bars, decent music scene, fair leftist community (though somewhat more anarch bent). Cons: Pricey; annoying, floppy-haired hipsters and stinky, granola eating hippies swinging from the rafters, and damned near every non-white person I've ever met who's been there fucking hated it (what does that tell you about it?). Plus, it's chilly and either rainy or cloudy constantly.

As far as the employment situation, I did a little research and supposedly the statewide unemployment rate for Washington is 8.9% compared to 9.6% nationally, so it's a little better than most places. Although, I couldn't find any Seattle specific stats.

Sounds like Vancouver, minus the colored people hating it. Why's that?

What's wrong with eco-anarchists?

That group would be nothing like 'hipsters'.

A) Because the Pacific Northwest US is chock full of racist assholes, no matter what the tourism board tells you, and for whatever reason a good number of them are concentrated in Seattle. The SPLC Hate Map (http://www.splcenter.org/get-informed/hate-map#s=WA) tells only part of the story, since, as I'm sure you're aware, most "normal" people are trepidatious about joining extremist groups whether on the right or left. In other words, radical groups are always going to have exponentially more sympathizers than actual members. In Washington, 11 of the 15 hate groups the SPLC has identified are in the greater Seattle area, which means that there are tons more sympathizers in the area whom are much more difficult to pin down.

B) Because Canadians are the nicest people on the fucking planet (every third sentence contains the phrase "I'm sorry"). So much so it kinda makes me a little nauseous.:p

eco anarchism isn't really the bent that I'd like to see anarchism have.

The term eco-anarchism infers that their reasoning for revolution is for ecological reasons instead of class based reasons. Also a lot of self-proclaimed "eco-anarchists" are primmies.
