A suspected car bomb has exploded in the Colombian capital Bogota, only days after new President Juan Manuel Santos took office.
Six people were slightly wounded in the blast outside one of the citys main radio stations.
Despite the latest attack, urban bombings have dropped sharply in recent years and Colombias new President insisted the perpetrators would not be allowed to win.
This is an act of terrorism and we mustnt fall into the trap. Things must take their normal legal course. The authorities will investigate and I tell the Colombian people to carry on with their lives. Theyre not going to spoil the party, Santos said.
The violence comes amid renewed hopes that the decades old conflict between Colombias government and left-wing Farc guerrillas is nearing an end.

The BBC article I read went into detail about the incident, then the last paragraph was about the FARC. It didn't even explicitly put blame on the FARC, it was almost as if they just cut and paste with the intention to hint at responsibility.

I'm not too sure if the FARC engages in activities like this or not (I would certainly be disappointed if they did) but the reporting on this is less than genuine whether it is them or not.

The car bomb exploded near the Ecuadoran Consulate. I dont think there would be any reason for FARC attacking that.

They did in the 80s and early 90s, but they don't do it so much anymore, if ever from what I read on them.

There's been claims of FARC participating in these actions, which is essentially the reason why they blame them again in this latest news. But, according to those close to FARC, especially James Britain, they don't really embrace such actions, for they see it as counterproductive.
