...Are seriously better than any other country's films, hands down.
saw Oldboy. Best movie ever. was not expecting that ending either.
also, so many other good South Korean movies that are great (like "the Host", and "Chaser"), that I'm convinced they have probably the best cinema in the world.
any challengers? :D

You just said in another thread that south korea had a horrible shitty culture due to capitalism
Which made me wanna go off on a rant, seeing how south korea is the shit and all.

Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance and Lady Vengeance are better than Oldboy, anyway. Although Oldboy is still good.

I like some South Korean films, but have developed a greater interest in Taiwanese films more recently

Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter by Ki-duk Kim is the only Korean film I've seen so far. Very well made with some breathtaking imagery. I've seen bits and pieces of Korean historical soap operas, which can be interesting.

Fucking true. I watched "The Star" last week and it was thouroghly awesome. A lot of great suspense scenes for a war movie.

This.
Also, Joint Security Area was a fantastic movie. May 18th was pretty good, though I didn't have subs for it and I couldn't understand anything.

I like Old Boy but i cant really say that its awsome like my friends. As menthioned Sympathy for Mr Vegance and Sympathy for Lady Vegance are better, A Bitter Sweet Life is also a good one, its a crime movie. Brotherhood of War is a really good one about the Korean war.

I like the south Korean films I have seen. In fact, I'd say that Asia as a whole has some of the best cinema these-days.

I like the host and I bet oldboy is good.
Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance and Lady Vengeance
sounds interesting.

I think that's regional specific. While Japan has made a few good horror films...Japanese actors and especially actresses can't act for shit, IMO.
Koreans and Chinese have much better actors and actresses.

I think that it depends on the genre. Personally, I can't stand "J-Horror". I think that it's incredibly lame...the best horror films are coming out of Europe these days. East Asia does produce good dramas and action films, though.

Japanese horror is good, but outside of that the only decent films they have are animated. Korea has some good films, but I still need to see more. China and Taiwan have some really good films that make it difficult for me to find time for my normal stupid television watching.

Agreed, the way they dress is really feminine, they have the cutest personas, and they seem like good "wifey" types. lol i'd be sold.

Indeed. I don't really like horror movies anyways, but the few J-horror I've seen haven't been that good. I do like some of the horror films from Europe, in fact, I'd say my favorite horror movie is REC . (the Hollywood remake was terrible, btw).

Just warning you, the social construct we know as marriage is not popular on this site. I myself am totally against it. So, you may get some verbal abuse from some people on this site.

Err I was being facetious... poking fun at the 'locker room' culture that's in chit-chat and all that... Not that I have anything against S. Korean girls, but yeah, thanks for proving a point guys....

REC is awsome! it gave me claustrophobic feelings for weeks, at the end the film is fucking terrifying. I hope you havnt missed REC 2 and that a thired movie is going to be released.

lol the kind've women I'm into can be considered submissive so I don't know really how to respond to this one. generally, I'm all for female choice...but that includes if a female wants to choose to be submissive, which naturally, is the kind've girl I go after.
but no. I don't drink beer nor watch the game, I am actually very active so I do alot of cleaning myself...but I'm bossy so it's natural I'm into girls who can handle that. (before you say it's sexist, lesbians are into dom/sub relationships too at times)

I'm not against marriage if it is done accordingly to the will of both parties. Marriage isn't a bad thing, it's only a bad thing when it favors someone's interests one-sidedly.

I didn't like Rec 2...
It was like they're were afraid to pull the trigger.
It was the same to me as the shitty hollywood remake
I saw a different Spanish horror movie that was better (something to do with an "uninvited guest")

Out of those two list, I've seen:
Run Lola Run, Solaris (I've seen both the original and the Hollywood remake, the remake wasn't bad, but the Original was better) , Belle De Jour, Festen, All about my Mother, L'Avventura, Y Tu Mama Tambien, and City of God.All were very good films.

I thought that it gave a pretty balanced, fair view of what life was like in the GDR, personally.

At least 99% of the movies from EVERY COUNTRY is crap. I try to pick the good ones from every country.
Yes, Oldboy is pretty awsome (and disturbing). But the rest of the S K movies I've seen are crap. Don't even get me started about their drama series.

Being God-damned awful is one thing, but the fact that half the woman I've ever met are addicted to them only makes it worse. :( Women and the elderly Chinese people.
My favoriate Korean restaurant has a wide screen TV that hangs on the wall. Everytime a woman goes there with me, no conversation is allowed! Sometimes it seems like every woman in the room is glued to it.
