From what i gather Trotsky saw religion as something that people aquire, and carry on with out of habit, and could be replaced simply by something else. Try reading Vodka, the church and cinema in the trotsky archive at marxists.org.Hope that helps.

All Marxists (genuine Marxists) support the freedom of religion, doesn't mean they see religion as a correct thing intrinsically. But forcing people to give up religion would never make it go away.

I believe that he did, but I am not certain. I know he came from a Jewish family, so it is possible he believed in freedom of religion. It was no secret he disliked the Bolsheviks in the end, and maybe religion was one of the reasons.

Trotsky supported freedom of religion (so did Lenin). He said you don't have to accept the dialectic to agree with the revolutionary program.

Einstein also came from a Jewish family, coming from a Jewish family doesn't make one pro-religion.

Believing in the freedom of religion doesn't make one pro-religion, it's just a basic democratic right.

The idea of Marxism is that eventually in a socialist society superstitious religions would all fade away, but this is not something that can be forced from above.
