This is an incredible enlightenment on the growing support for the UCPN-M (Maoist). Let's hope they can gain majority vote this coming round today.

CPN ML splits prior to PM voting

REPUBLICA

KATHMANDU, Aug 6: In a fresh twist in Nepali politics, CPN ML led by CP Mainali which commands eight seats in the parliament, split over the row on supporting Unified CPN (Maoist) led government on Friday.

Party members who are in favor of a Maoist-led government formed a new party named CPN ML (Socialist) under the leadership of Jagat Bahadur Bogati.

According to Bogati, four of the total eight lawmakers have joined the new party.

The four lawmakers who defected CPN ML are Yadu Bansha Jha, Tilak Bahadur Thapa Magar, Ganesh Prasad Chaudhary and Sarada Nepali. They said that they would vote for Maoist candidate Pushpa Kamal Dahal in the fourth round of PM voting on Friday.

lol yeah, uhh, yes.

I'm thinking of giving up the RAAN now.. There has been a few requests for me to do so, but more importantly it's very tiresome just typing the same bullshit argument without thinking about anything.. kudos to the full-time RAANites who manage to spout that crap every day

Glad to have you back :D lol

In other words, this is definitely a great development in support for the Maoists. They seem to be bringing in support through each different party, where members are going against the wishes of their party to support the Maoists.

I though the phrase was "make like a Trotskyist" ;)

Anyway, this move from the CPN-ML doesn't seem entirely unexpected. IIRC they seemed to be more willing to work with the Maoists than other Nepalese communist/"communist" parties. Wasn't there also a small communist group that merged with UCPN(M) in the past couple months?

Good news though. It'll be interesting to see if this helps embolden those on the UML left, and possibly some of the smaller parties.
