The baristas claim that executives have no justification to squeeze working families with starbucks raking in profits of $977.2 million in the past four fiscal quarters.

Omaha is actually considered to be hipster though which makes it even more ironic and therefore more hip.

...the fuck? I grew up in Omaha my entire life until the past year. I miss it.
I wasnt aware the SWU or Wobblies had a presence in downtown Omaha. If I knew that earlier, I would of helped them out. Dammit. The IWW Directory doesnt even list Nebraska.
Yes, Omaha is very hipster-filled, but they are still workers and I support the workers cause.

In Lincoln, too.

Does now.

Much like Chicago, the worker's cause dominated the hipster-worker's cause back in the days when Omaha was still a big meatpacking place.

I'm excited to hear that! I havent seen Nebraska listed in the Industrial Worker, but it's good to know now. When I move back to Omaha, whenever that will be, I definitely plan on helping out. Keep up the good fight!

IWW has staged similar movements in other Starbucks.
Dunno, it's always confused me how the token liberals view Starbucks as a progressive establishment, but they've got one of the worst records when it comes to workers and unions. And many other things.
Hopefully someday in the future they can take that moron Howard Schultz down a peg.

Probably because fancily brewed coffee seems like "high culture" to some - how could a high culture establishment be abusive? Same thing with Apple products.

and this is why i still like and have much respect for the wobblies/IWW
people say they are defunct but they are organizing a seemingly unorganizable workplace. kudos. It seems like a long term project because ive seen stuff about the wobblies and the IWW for at least a year.

Yeah, I've heard the same, even from people on the supposed hard-line left. Truth be told, in the SF Bay we're in a period of expansion. I'm not at liberty to say in what areas (you'll understand why, I'm sure) but suffice to say that I think in the next two years the I think the number of shops we have organized will be increased exponentially.
Aside from that, there've been a lot of other places Wobs have been active. I recently had the good fortune of running into some folks from the Portland ISO who related a story to me. Apparently, there was a handicapped woman being illegally evicted from her apartment. To here them tell it, about 20 Wobblies rocked up in the management company's office and demanded the super sign a cease and desist letter. He did, and she still has her apartment to this day as far as I know.
