Look, if we don't unite under a single banner, how can we break through capitalism's barrier of misinformation and show what socialism, Marxism and anarchism really are? Facism is making a comeback, we need to fight back. Do you think the average worker actually cares about sectarianism? I really don't like stalinism, but I would be more than willing to set aside our differences and fight. Lenin said "The most powerful thing about Marxism is that it's true." So let's get out there and prove it

It’s a lovely thought, I’m sure we would all like a united left. However there are too many irreconcilable differences between leftist ideologies. You can’t seriously sit there and tell me that ultra-leftists, anarchists and Marxist-Leninists will be able to work together? It just doesn't seem like it'll ever happen.

The choice may be work together or never win. Besides, isn't the end result the same. I mean we are all REVLEFT

We may all be revolutionary leftists, but if the revolution were to succeed under the leadership of a united left, what would happen in the aftermath? The different factions will be back at each other’s throats.

That's a very different beast. RevLeft, as I believe Chegitz recently posted, is primarily a social group, and is best thought about as a huge leftist bar (I believe he says without the alcohol, but he doesn't know what goes on between keyboard and chair, so I'd challenge him on that point ;)). However, talking to each other on the internet is still miles away from working together in coordinated actions, though there's always the possibility that the latter can come from the former.

As for unity/united fronts in general, I think it's very difficult to just declare a "united front" without having some specific goal to work towards. There's also the issue of politics, where a delicate balance needs to be struck between "unity for unity's sake" (papering over political differences for the sake of working together, something more in common with popular front tactics), and a false unity that's primarily meant as a recruiting groups for the lead organisation. Examples of both can be pointed to in history. Personally, I'm more concerned about the former issue than the latter, but they're still obstacles that need to be overcome.

Should we not ty to win just because we might argue afterwards? The people will decide who they rally to, it is more important that capitalism falls

No it's not. The end result of 1917 Russian revolution is completely different from Anarchist Catalonia.

True, but the concept still seems unrealistic. Trust me, I would like nothing more than to see a united front against capitalism but being anti-capitalist has not been enough to unite us as of right now and probably won't be enough to unite us in the future. We can only hope at this point.

we don't need a united front
we need a class conscious working class
