WASHINGTON-A team of U.S. scientists identified rocks 4 billion years old may contain evidence of life on Mars, according to a study published in the journal Earth and Planetary Sciencie Letters.
The discovery was made in a region of Mars known as Nili Fossae to be a fracture on the Martian surface and, according to scientists, is a "living portrait" of a region in Australia where it has been buried and preserved evidence oldest life on Earth ..
But mention that they need to analyze this region of Mars in much more detail to see if this is indeed signs of life or any property consisting of geological processes.
The Nili Fossae is a fracture on the surface of Mars that has intrigued scientists since 2008 when they were discovered rocks containing carbonate minerals.

Scientists believe that the same processes "hydrothermal" that preserved the markers of life in that region of the Earth may have occurred in the Nili Fossae region on Mars.
"In the Pilbara region has preserved the oldest evidence of life on Earth," he told the BBC Dr Adrian Brown, who led the research.
"When we locate carbonate on Mars, this gave us a good indication that the Pilbara region was a vivid portrait of Nili Fossae and that she should look for signs of primitive life on this planet."
