if you don't know who i am my dad is the glenn beck worshiper that pretty much took all my things left wing. well the other day i was listening to Muse the song was uprising.

Another promise, another scene, another
A package not to keep us trapped in greed
With all the green belts wrapped around our minds
And endless red tape to keep the truth confined

They will not force us
They will stop degrading us
They will not control us
We will be victorious

Rise up and take the power back, it's time that
The fat cats had a heart attack, you know that
Their time is coming to an end
We have to unify and watch our flag ascend

They will not force us
They will stop degrading us
They will not control us
We will be victorious

now i took the song as a anti capitalist/anti goverment song.
my dad procceded to tell me that none of that is leftist at all and that it is the right trying to keep power in office over the left. i justlooked at him and said that makes no sense at all, "Your left wing obama loving uneducated teenager" i almost hit my father that day.

but all in all how do you take this song?

Muse aren't really political. The lead singer is a bit of a conspiracy theorist sort, I think, maybe a bit of a right-libertarian.

I take it as a leftist song but right-wingers with a victim complex could take it to be about the resistance against the evil Obama New World Order Government. It's a vague song. Also I fucking love Muse.

Have you explained to your father that no socialist in their right mind actually supports Obama? Ask him if he knows any socialists who actually do, he'll probably be quiet then.

Muse's lead singer says hes a libertarian, and since he's British then it probably means something left wing/socialist.

They have exactly two good songs: Supermassive black Hole and Uprising.

Nope. In Britain UKIP and a number of other small right-wing parties describe themselves as libertarian, and the Conservative Party have so-called libertarian factions. Apparently Cameron described himself as a libertarian and Boris Johnson does all the time.

Muse suck (imo), anyway.

I like Muse a lot. They're sound has some pretty original aspects to it. The way they blend a hard-rock sounds with more unusual arrangements and scales used in other types of music make them unique. As a three-piece they're each solid with their instruments and are a tight unit.
