Anyone heard of a fps/military simulator called, ARMA2, it is the civillian model, of the one used by the armed forces.

i wasa thinking of buying it, but apparently, you need "good specs" to play without horrendous lag, can anyone tell me what specs are, what specs are good, and, if they liked ARMA2

I had it (as in, I played it, it turned out to be awful, I uninstalled it). On my last computer it played like shit (specs: 1.8Ghz Dual Core, 256Mb Gforce 9500, 4GB RAM)
On my current PC (specs: 3.1Ghz Quad Core, 512Mb Radeon HD 4600, 8Gb RAM) it ran much better (obviously), I could run it on high settings with a little bit of lag, but it wasn't terrible.

The game itself wasn't exactly the most immersive I've ever played, it's okay if you're into semi-realistic tactical shooters, however, the AI can be buggy and unresponsive. I tried out Arma2: Operation Arrowhead about 2 weeks ago and nothing had changed really... I rage uninstalled it after the second mission when I got out of my Abram's to defend it while it was being repaired, then couldn't get back in the fucking thing to complete my objectives.
I would recommend Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising instead if you're looking for a decent tactical shooter, it's not exactly less demanding on the ol' compooter but at least it has less bugs and is ten times more immersive (despite the short story mode).

It would be nice to know what your specs are in order to judge if you'd be able to play the game semi-decently. I don't know what Operating System you're on, but in Windows finding your specs is pretty simple. If you start Task Manager by ctrl+alt+del > File > New Task > Run > then type DXDIAG in the box that pops up, you'll get all your system specs. Just have a look at the 'System' tab for all the relevant info.

Specs are the pc specifications like the speed of the processor the videocard etc.

But if you have to ask what specs are i doubt you have a PC powerful enough to handle arma2.

it's bug filled, i brought it back to the shop because of how many bugs there are
it had such great potential, but the makers fucked it up and released to early.

If you want realism, get BF 2, and get the "Project Reality" mod, it's the most realistic FPS game in the world.

optimal on the box says any Quad core or a dual core with 2,8 ghz or faster (AMD athlon 64 x2 4400+ or faster)

2 GB ram

geforce 8800GT or ATI radeon 4850 or faster

windows xp or vista.

but i would go with atleast 4GB ram a quad core processor and for an affordable card the ati HD5770 because this game is a ballbuster for videocards.

And by the way, i think your enchanting

You guys are stupid. ARMA 2 owns but it can be insanely difficult. Me and my friend play as a 2 person specops squad and we've been working on this one mission for ages. Our games usually last about 1 1/2 hours with only a handful of encounters with enemy patrols until we die.

It's a simulator, not a game.

Pretty buggy though, yeah.

• Quad Core CPU or Dual Core CPU (Intel Core 2.8 GHz, AMD Athlon 64 X2 4400+ or faster)
• 2 GB RAM
• GPU (Nvidia Geforce 8800GT / ATI Radeon 4850 or faster) with Shader Model 3 and 512 MB VRAM
• Windows XP or Windows Vista
• DVD (Dual Layer compatible)
• 10 GB free HDD space

Those are the recommended specs right there. I have more than this and it's still kind of laggy at points. Make sure to turn off post-processing effects and lower the headbob.
