I study political science at my university so I actually feel kind of overwhelmed at also trying to learn revolutionary politics and not just world affairs, american politics(lol), history, comparative politics etc. Some of you are med students, comp sci people, and I just find that fascinating that you are so prolific. I almost feel like I should study something other than politics(grad school maybe) so I have something substantive to contribute to society other than being a political dictionary.

If your talking about self studying:
Self taught myself to program in C++, Object Pascal, Python and general web coding. Been a while since i coded anything though. Also im into Unix based OS, i actually use linux as my main desktop OS cuz im cool like that ;)

Art and things like that i also like, do paintings and stuff like that. I need to start setting more time aside for art though. Renaissance art history i like aswell, plus been looking into socialist realist art which im starting to get into.

I try to teach myself as much as i can, cuz i lack of fund for college =/

I really want to study psychology and become a psychiatrist, but getting into a psychology course in Germany is fairly impossible, with my grades at least. Therefore I'll go study something ethnology related for now, most likely Middle East Studies, this year. I'm hoping to maybe study psychology in a foreign country (looking at Sweden) next year.

Though I'm also getting interested in Economy lately, but yeah I guess I'll keep this as a private hobby. I considered studying Environmental Toxicology once, but the fact that I'd most likely work for the government, and that I'd be forced to do animal experimentation put me off.

I work and drink? Probably will go to school some more, but I have no real ambition in it, and am mostly doing it cause it gets me extra spending money from the government.

In school I study Economics, and Philosophy as my declared major, but I will have enough Physics courses by the end of my undergrad to have a bit over a minor in it. In my spare time I like DIY, reading, inventing recipes (baking, cooking, and drinks). I also like appreciating art, museums, taking photographs, renovating random aspects of my parents' house, and being a hoodlum. Also I like Linux, computers and technology are a hobby of mine.

I like to think I'm a renaissance womin, but theres a lot I'm missing.

At my spare time I try to learn history, economics, philosophy (especially epistemology, ethics and society), and languages to some degree.

By the way, I just got accepted to a university of applied sciences. The line is called: "library- and information service." :thumbup1:

Honours Degree in Digital Arts at University, just about to enter my Second year. In my spare time I usually take walks (since my student life isn't exactly the most active), brush up on my artistic and modelling skills (both traditional and digital), write fiction and read about history, economics and theory (if I can bring myself to wrap my head around it).

I was a History major for 2 years. Still might be, I dunno yet.

A couple of my hobbies that I enjoy are surfing and building on my encyclopedic knowledge of horror/exploitation films.

As far as areas that I am interested in intellectually, I can't really separate them from politics.

I like literature and history and art and if I was independently wealthy or if we lived in a worker's society, I would love to be able to be a permanent undergrad and just take courses on these things all the time. I feel like being political has allowed me to get more out of reading literature ("apolitical" lit as well as more overtly socially relevant works) and the lit itself has also given me insights into politics.

I also like finding out the history of the video game industry.I'm not much of a video game player - anything beyond Ms. Pacman is too advanced for me . But I think a radical look at the video game industry and its developments would be really interesting - have you (or anyone else) ever come across anything like that (preferably an article or something)?

There has been a lot written about the film industry from a Marxist or Anarchist perspective, but I have never read anything similar about comic books or video games, so if anyone has any suggestions, please let me know.

I am majoring in English with a minor in History, or at least right now. I study French as well.

Out side of school I like a lot of 'artsy' stuff. I write of course, I enjoy photography, music, film, reading (no surprise there), and sketching (not too much any more but I used to). I also have an interest in science, particularly physics and astronomy, but my math skills are a bit lacking. Other than that I just kinda of chill with my friends, whom happen to all be either writers (Poets and Prosers), photographers, painters, designers, or musicians.

Oh and of course I have a slight interest in radical politics.

Here's a little play I have written about my experience as a major lit and just a minor hist:

Relative: "English lit, huh... what do you plan to do with that?"

Me: "Oh, after I graduate I plan on going on a killing spree to take out everyone who asked me if I wanted to teach or be a writer after graduating college"

 That's great.

It reminds me of this skit by a Dutch comedian about how he became an English teacher after studying English in university. About "the good old days, when the students weren't armed yet." When he begins the job, he starts the first lesson in English, and nobody understands him. Then they all write their essays by literally translating Dutch sentences to hilarious result.

It's not really funny unless one hears it, and you'd have to understand Dutch for that, so I have no idea why I'm telling you this!

I love the part in "400 Blows" with the English class where the teacher says: "I went to the Beach" and the class repeats the phrase: "I weent to the *****".

Not that any American should ever laugh at someone else's inability to master another language. For example, Homer Simpson in Mexico: "What's the Spanish word for taco?"

I must add that my version of your play usually goes a bit differently.

Friend: "So after you've graduated, do you want to be a high school teacher, or do you want to become unemployed and live on benefits for the rest of your life? I mean, surely job perspectives will be very limited."

Me: "RAAAAARGH."

I am a union electrician and spend the majority of my time making money for people other than myself. ;) In all honesty though, before i'm anything, i'm a craftsman and that's how i approach my job. i don't even think about my hourly wage anymore....i make enough money to provide food for my family and satisfy my "financial obligations".
I am huge into music and playing drums, I drink copious amounts of beer when the time is right, I study all things electrical rigorously as part of a five year apprenticeship that i am part of, and take care of my family. That's my existence in a nutshell....Moments of time in between all of this are spent deliberating the facets of radical politics, progressive thought, and militant philosophies. And when i remember to, i meditate.

I have one better.

I was at my aunts house and her daughter was reading Twilight. I was talking about college when my cousin (the one reading twilight) asked me "what the hell are you going to do with an English degree, teach? I said "No, I'll write some dribble about vampire/werewolf sex fantasizes and make millions" to which she replied, "Yeah, good luck with that." and kept reading.

Ha, hilarious.

If only it was vampire/werewolf sex fantasies - then the books might be interesting. It's more like vampire/werewolf abstinence fantasies. Bah, these kids today and their "twilight books"! Back in my day, teenager and vampire romance stories had female protagonists who could not only defend themselves but could kick ass... and she didn't need to be held and carried around by men all day!
