Alternatively you can use xchat (http://www.silverex.org/news/) or chatzilla (https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/16), to name just two alternatives out of many.

This.If you go in again, chances are that it wont show it again, it happened to me to get it 2 or 3 times in a row, but its very rare.

This x1000... I only ever used it to read server chat as an admin, other times whenever people mention mIRC I tend to fall asleep.

I got kind of used to it before, and now I don't use IRC enough to really care about it.

I used it, then I uninstalled and switched to mibbit, because after all I didn't care to search for a better program. =X
