On the 28th of August the far right organisation, the English Defence League are coming to Bradford to protest against the "Islamification" of the United Kingdom. They are a front for various racist ideology and a recent poll of their members that revealed 35% support the BNP and 30% support UKIP tells you all you need to know about their members.
The left wing must stand in unity with the locals in Bradford and resist racism- ideologically and physically! This is an important event for all anti-fascists in Northern England to attend. Details to follow.

The Stop Racism and Fascism Network (SRFN) was set up at a conference in Nottingham on March 27. It has brought together anti-racist and anti-fascist campaigns in Nottingham, Liverpool, Manchester, Sheffield, Lincoln, Derby, and South London who are frustrated at the lack of effectiveness and democratic discussions within existing anti-fascist networks.
We believe that for a meaningful impact on fascism involvement in local communities is critical. This does not mean parachuting in as outsiders, but people taking action in their own communities.
As such, all the actions promoted here are organised locally, with solidarity from the wider network. Cooperation is vital and we urge that anybody who is able to attend these events does so.

Not sure if it is a standard front group so to speak but think the AWL might be involved.

Yeah it looks quite diverse which is good, although my local group that is linked to the SRFN does some good work however they forward on alot of HNH campaings in their mailouts which has kept me away.

I'd rather protest and beat up labour party supporters rather than beat up a pathetic minority like EDL.

We shouldn't shun the EDL as a pathetic minority; they are still a dangerous group and have had success in appealing to sections of confused and discontented workers. It is important that they are countered, in the same manner as any fascist organization.
