Why we should not support them, I am arguing with someone about the system.
Because their primary objective is to support and protect the ruling class and ensure its wealth and property.

Because crime is demonstratably discriminatory against the poor.

The police, army, and "justice" systems are the primary defense of a state which maintains a monopoly of violence in order to ensure the well-being of the ruling class. The police and army use violence to protect the state against all those who oppose it, and since states maintain economic and social inequality through property laws no state is legitimate.

The justice system generally doesn't take into account an individual's motives for the crime or infraction (how long have they been unemployed, how large is their family, where are their living conditions and social standing, etc.). Fidel Castro has an excellent quote around here somewhere that sums this up pretty well.

What exactly are their arguments in favor of it? Although many of the suggestions made are quite fruitful, generally, addressing people's misconceptions directly is more fruitful than providing alternative interpretations of a social phenomena.
If you can give us a feel for where they are coming from, we can probably formulate an incisive response.

So are you guys saying the police should be abolished? If so what would be done about the gangs and terrorist (Domestic and foreign) that infect our society? Let them run amok and carve out there own spheres of influence?

What?
There'd be security services. Just not like the current police and justice system...

What you call "terrorism" (with the term sometimes used correctly, but often not) is a reaction to oppression and imperialism (http://www.thewe.cc/weplanet/news/armed_force/suicide_bombing_blair_alliance_with_bush.htm). Gang culture has similar roots in capitalism (with the systematic repression of the black population in America being an obvious major cause. Keep in mind that many gangs form to traffic narcotics - essentially the gang leaders could be called capitalists if they own the drug plantations). If everything is a cause and effect relationship, surely we destroy the cause and the effect goes with it?
But on police, no, we do not want to abolish the concept of a police force. During revolutionary periods, workers and their communes, etc. often form militias to enforce basic laws and rules like "don't kill", "don't steal", "don't rape" and such. Most libertarian socialists want an accountable, non-hierarchical police force which is not above the law and enforces laws made by the community (as opposed to the current police forces which are above the law, crippled by corruption and enforce laws made by the ruling class whilst also maintaining a hierarchical structure).

We should support them when it makes sense to support them. The fundamental Anarchist principle is that every exercise of authority is subject to a heavy burden of proof. Unfortunately, if we look, we'll find a large proportion of these exercises are illegitimate, but some are.
