Fascinating story. Oliver Stone and Richard Boyle had made two screenplays. One of them was the real one but the other one was a fake right-wing script to trick the Salvadoran junta to let them use their military tanks, helicopters soldiers, etc.

I admire the intelligence of the rouse, but the actual movie Salvador? Not so much. That film was supposedly set in 1980s El Salvador, not Mexico circa 1914 (ie during the Mexican Revolution). In other words, there weren't any bandido looking mother fuckers riding around on horseback firing off six shooters. In fact, to my knowledge, El Frente never used horses for anything other than as pack animals.
