As socialists do you believe that pedophiles should/should not be castrated and tortured to death?

If so what about ephebophiles and hebephiles? Where do you draw the line?

no but seriously, I don't think anyone should be castrated and tortured to death. People who suffer from pedophilia - which means a persistent attraction to pre-pubescent children and is listed as a psychiatric disorder - should be treated, and those who do commit sexual abuse against children should be removed from any situation where such a thing could happen again while they receive treatment for their disorder. It's a case by case situation I think as well.

What I really disagree with is populist appeals for retributive justice like the one suggested in your post - we could do horrible things to murderers and rapists and whatnot, yet that would in no way be beneficial to society nor would it conform to system of justice I know of.

But secondly; no.

The distinction of "adult" and "minor" are social constructions without any scientific basis.

Such age generalizations do not really discern who is or isn't capable of informed consent -- but only promote ageism and trivialize those who are actually raped.

Its time to end age-based sex policing, and time to start educating people of all ages about rape and rape culture.
