In 1973, a small contingent of Cuban military medical personel served with the Syrian army in the front line against Israel, ending Cubas curious relationship with them.
From 1959, Cuba and Israel had cooperated, partly because of israels socialist politics, but also because many cubans saw an emotional affinity with a similarly embattled state.
Even after 1967 when israel became an occupying power on Arab land, rejecting palestinian claims to self determination, conversations and low level collaboration continued.
However in September 1973, Cuba reversed policy, and supported, both politically and materially, Palestinian resistance, unquestioningly.
Thoughts?

wow, what an asset to the revolutionary left you are, we could use your skills to bring socialism to the world, the socialistmovement is far too short on sarcastic, immature arseholes, you are the leadership we have, for the revolution we need...
Jackass.

What the fuck are you on about? Is it lonely up there on your pedestal? Do you suddenly feel the need to rant on about how the revolutionary left is hopeless just because someone made a sarcastic reply to your post? Talk about immature.
Cuba had diplomatic relations with Israel, apparently, and then became enemies. Is that all you want to discuss? You didn't exactly make it clear in your post what your asking, all you said was "thoughts?". Vague claims about "collaboration" and not asking specific questions usually isn't enough for other people to know what your talking about.
What is there to discuss about the relations between Cuba and Israel? What revelations will this subject bring up? Probably nothing.
Jackass.I like compliments!

I read this book a while ago that i withdrew from the library, which was written by the great aurthor, Kapcia, which goes through the entire history of the revolution.
I was intriuged by the pro Israel policies during some years of the revolution, and wanted to ask some more senior comrades for informatiuon, so that is why i started the thread kitty.
Kapcia, is extremely pro Cuba, he even defewnds the camps set up, that were used to get gays, seven day adventists and artists into the spirit of the revolution, he said they were far from labour camps, just places that the population wanted those seen as the most likely to fight for the counter revolution placed, the idea that, if they see the good collective planned production did for society, the less likely they were to try and change the new society.
Sorry for having a how do you say "hissyfit", but you were kinda provoking a reaction, no?

Do you have a link to an article on this history? I'd never heard of it, but I'm curious. My guess is that'd be based more on Soviet-Israeli relations but I don't know that history either.
Defense of the Cuban Revolution does not mean endorsing all the reactionary measures it has taken. What I find particularly inspiring about Cuba, is that the revolution has worked to correct itself -- recent examples being ending the death penalty and taking steps towards ending sexual oppression.
