I've recently taken an interest in the socialism(or capitalism, as some of you say) of Tito's Yugoslavia. I don't just want to know about their government, but the life and culture. Yugoslavian punk is pretty sweet. :thumbup1:

Any resources, books, websites, films, etc. on the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia are welcome, preferably if they are pro-Tito.

Kate Hudson - Breaking the South Slav Dream

Chris Hill - The Social Economic Alternative
--this book is quite shit overall (it attempts to put forward a new type of socialism), however it had a section about the Yugoslav economy, and praises it.

IIRC the group "socialist renewal" http://www.socialistrenewal.org.uk/, is quite pro-yugoslavia, or was. They published the above book by Hill , www.spokesmanbooks.com, so you may find some stuff from them, or could email them as id imagine they would be able to help you if i am right about their pro-Titoism

I am afraid that the best way to learn about the life and culture of SOCIALIST Yugoslavia is to talk to people who actually lived there. I have a good friend who lived in Yugoslavia since the late 30's [When he was born] up until the mid-80's. He also told me his comparison of Yugoslav society and the Soviet society when he went on a trip to Moscow which was quite interesting  if you want to know anything, feel free to ask...

Also, be careful about who you ask for information. A lot of Cetniks lived in Yugoslavia, and their mouths are equivalent to a sane persons anus.

I have around 50 books on the subject, unfortunately none in English :(
I was thinking of scanning some of it and put it online, but I'm afraid that auto translating tools would not do the job (tried it before).
Shame, because some reads are amazing, such as the Biography of Tito written by Vladimir Dedijer (over 2000 pages long).

Internet seems to be short on Tito, which means I'll have to eventually change that

Possible links of interest:

note: A very interesting read. This book serves as a response to the loud Chinese criticism of Yugoslavia. It explains in details Tito's ideas of peaceful coexistence between nations and defends Yugoslav socialism.
It was written by Edvard Kardelj.

note: nothing to do with Tito or the socialist Yugoslavia. Book is written in 1922. and describes the former country which was the kingdom of Yugoslavia. Interesting book if one wants to learn a bit about south Slav people in general

Hey, maybe I could translate some of your material since I'm a graduate student of English :)
PM if you think it's worth it.
