It's Indiana. Most of the state, excluding the most north-west, is incredibly right-wing and reactionary. Well, I guess the north-west is slightly reactionary still. Either way, that sucks what happened.

While I can't stand discrimination due to any reason anywhere, I especially hate it when it rears its ugly head in the medical system. Didn't these people take oaths to treat everyone to the best of their abilities? Don't they have any shred of humanity to not treat others like shit? I wish I was there so atleast I could stand up against the hospital and give her some amount of support, because this humiliation is beyond acceptable or forgivable. I'm glad to know that this is getting some press and that she has some public support, but things like this should never happen. People are people, no matter what.

Most of Indiana is right-wing, except for the northwest, which is at least left-of-center. If you want some fun, tell someone who lives in rural Indiana that you've lived in the Calumet region.

I don't think rural Indiana is my thing. If I deal with transphobia on the punk scene in Milwaukee, I don't even want to risk it with rural Indiana, although I was on my was to Madison, WI from Milwaukee, WI last week and these guys in a pickup truck with an Indiana license plate kept on driving up next to the car I was in and giving me lustful looks through the window.
