Can anybody suggest me some red-leaning musicians? The type of music doesn't really matter much, I'd just like some nice lyrics that are leftist.

The Last Internationale is a Socialist Indy band. You can find them on MySpace since they're pretty Indy, and I don't know if they have any music posted on YouTube? They're good, and I bought their CD for like $10 on MySpace since I thought supporting such a band would do good. :thumbup1:

If you want to talk about older types, Dean Reed was an early Rock 'n Roll artist who was radicalized in South America during the 60s and ended up moving to East Germany where he may or may not have worked for the secret police. Harry Bellafonte is a total socialist. Paul Robeson. If you want lyrics, check out some kinds of folk music. Woody Guthrie, Pete Seeger, Burl Ives and similar people were all very pro-labor and anti-capital. A really cool art punk band I like is called Art Bears. Their third album has some great song titles like "The Song of Investment Capital Overseas" and "The Song of the Dignity of Labor Under Capital". Weird stuff.

The Kinks are socialists, though they only addressed political issues on a handful of songs. Their sort of mediocre two-part rock opera "Preservation" is about the rise and fall of a socialist leader who trumps a capitalistic tyrant, "Dear Margaret" is an attack on Margaret Thatcher, Ray's solo song "Working Man's Cafe" is about globalization, etc.

I have to second the Flobots. They are amazing. I've seen them live twice and met them. They rock.

GG Allin.
He was a true anti-establishment revolutionary. He suffered greatly at the hand of the repressive state apparatus, supposedly being jailed over 50 times in his lifetime by the anti-freedom forces of reaction who hated his love of life.

almost any post-rock band has a feeling of leftism
On behalf of this: GY!BE has various members which have been called Anarchist, and they have some leftist message in their songs, album art, liner notes, etc. They have a side project called Bakunin's Bum.
Another leftist post-rock band is From Monument To Masses. Name refers to decentralized movements (read on Wiki, I'm too lazy to explain), and they use a bunch of political vocal samples, amongst others from Chomsky.
Also, for all Black Metal fans, check out the Red&Anarchist Black Metal blog: http://r-a-b-m.blogspot.com/
