Hello all,
looking for some more interesting discussion and whatnot relating to communism, anarchism, philosophy, etc. I'm first and foremost against any form of identity politics, including that which is found within the left itself.

Welcome!
By identity politics within the left are you referring to things like the Black Panther Party?

Sure, I would consider the Black Panther Party associated with Identity politics. But I am also referring to the inane more-radical-than-thou posturing and whatnot - sort of false walls people put up based upon identification with a particular intellectual, politico, etc. We seem to be in a time when supposed differences between theories or methodology have been spun out of control and exaggerated - more and more we fall into compartmentalization - You a trot, situ-fag, Leninist, syndicalist? etc, etc. Surely there are differences to be acknowledged but to be more concerned with your title, your so-called lifestyle, or whatever, is in my opinion, to gravely miss the point. I don't mean to sound accusatory here, this is something I have run into on various forums and within the left milieu, though.

You sound like you're talking more about sectarianism, which is understandable to an extent.

Such language is prohibited here, just to let you know.

Apologies for the language, was solely meant as an example. And yes, I am referring to sectarianism. I do see it as a form of identity politics, though, precisely because it is about being identified as that particular 'type of leftist' within the left itself, and such distinctions probably have little relevance to someone outside the left-scene. It seems symptomatic of capitalism's modus operandi, in that, it continues the trend of alienation and exploitation of novelty/difference.
