Comrade, are you aware about the overconsumption and the overproduction of plastic and metal cutlery? Why do you need to have many metal/plastic/glass cutlery in your kitchen drawer when you simply can have a metal chopstick!? They are more elaborate, simpler and it doesn't take long to practice with just eating with metal chopstick. You wanna drink the soup? You can drink it with the bowl. It also doesn't degenerate, it uses less metal than the the western cutlery does and it is so small that it fits in your pocket. I am pissed off that some comrades still use western cutlery simple because their ancestor used it too or are passed by by their people. Imagine that restaurant don't have to wash those chopstick when we can carry them at all time. It saves the proletarian a big time to just wash the plate. We have to change this madness cutlery culture and make metal chopstick the main choice for cutlery. The question is, will we change our habit of cutlery in the future?

How do you eat ice-cream then?

How do you eat ice-cream then?
With skill.
I was thinking this just yesterday when I made sushi to use my lovely pair of chopsticks I invested in. Cleaning chopsticks are like 54243298 times easier than cleaning other utensils, plus I feel like such a baller while eating with them. Chopstick use should be taught in school.

How do you eat ice-cream then?
As I said, you can eat ice-cream with the bowl on your lips and use those metal chopstick to put the ice-cream in your mouth.

That design is too complex and not elegance enough.

its an incredibly simple design that has no learning curve, unlike chopsticks, and allows a utensil to be used when eating less chopstick-friendly dishes like soup, ice cream, etc. i would incorporate a folding knife into the handle, and you have basically got everything you need in a compact package.

All this thread has demonstrated is your descent into ridiculous weeabooage.
1. Wooden chopsticks are durable enough and will last for years if cared for properly.
2. Metal chopsticks tend to be slippery, which, given the nature of the utensil can make all the difference.
This already exists. They're called a mess kits, and people use them in the military. After that rant, I suppose you're going to criticize the People's Liberation Army next for using spoons in their mess kits?
Get over yourself, you tool. You're not the glorious spearhead of greater Yamato.

There's this really revolutionary utensil that I use for eating all of my food. It's brilliant, really:

I mean do you see how well these utensils grip those pretzels? It blows my mind...

Yeah, damn those Orientals
No.
I was speaking in jest of course. I have an irrational hatred of our most popular export: the artistically-devoid, image-oriented, hyper-consumerist 'k-pop'.
Some of Korea's greatest inventions include the hwacha, the turtle ship, and an extremely efficient writing system.

Western chauvinist!
Really though, should this be in Sciences & Environment?

Regular use of chopsticks should be discouraged, as it contributes to Osteoarthritis:

I agree with the sentiment that plastic tableware that is thrown away after one use is a terrible invention, not only because it is wasteful, but also because of ergonomic concerns (prongs easily breaking off) and it often affects the taste in a negative way. Take-away restaurants can use edible cups and food containers, I guess that even if they are not eaten they are probably better for the environment than using plastic.

Woah, moderated by the moderating chimpanzee. :O
In terms of manufacturing simplicity, a set of two metal rods requires less effort, skill, and labor time to produce than separate/moving parts of that specific spork design.
The spork is better for things like soup (which doesn't necessarily require a utensil) and mashed potatoes though.

mashed potaters are like sticky rice, easily eatable through chopstix

obviously the design can be modified, it was just my favorite spork image from google images.
i think soup would be difficult to eat without a utensil, at least if its anything besides broth.

1. Wooden chopsticks are durable enough and will last for years if cared for properly. This can also be said for other properties like metal and glass.
2. Metal chopsticks tend to be slippery, which, given the nature of the utensil can make all the difference. Except you can add the rough surface to the metal to make less slippery.
This already exists. They're called a mess kits, and people use them in the military. After that rant, I suppose you're going to criticize the People's Liberation Army next for using spoons in their mess kits? The military is in different strategy, they tend to know how to take care of their supply seriously when the civilian are in their own. So I am not surprised.
Get over yourself, you tool. You're not the glorious spearhead of greater Yamato. How about you, you little tool? You are not a spearhead of the Patriotic Revleft Group.
