Or Go Down Moses. What a great song. Maybe it seems silly to have a whole thread about one song but this is a song thats been sung by generations of the worlds oppressed and is really beautiful imo. I think its originally from black americans, using the enslavement and liberation of the Israelites as a powerful analogy. Perhaps it was entwined with religious hopes of salvation, but I think it can just as easily be interpreted as a demand for freedom by any means necessary. Anyway I really like it.

This is by far the best version. Paul Robeson's voice is just harrowing and awesome

I'm not ashamed to admit the first time I heard Paul Robeson's version of Joe Hill, I cried. He truly had one of the greatest singing voices ever.
