Very interesting statistics on what tea partiers actual beliefs are, but why they are duped into supporting corporate interests.

Although I didn't watch the clip, I do agree with what you're saying. A friend of mine who doesn't know my socialist position heard my bitter anger over the corporate bailout in America and austerity measures in Europe (I'm a dual citizen), and how it's always the masses that get screwed in favor of the top 2%, and he responded to me saying "Well, you're a tea partier!"

I think it's because American culture is so skewed towards classical liberalism that it comes out in the wrong perspective of corporate interests using government to their interests, which is true - but come to the wrong conclusion in thinking it's government's and regulation's fault.

It feels so lonely being a red in America. It's really the past 3 years that has slowly drawn me back to the far-left, growing up with the corrupt Bush administration, two ugly wars, and the recessions and it's after affects makes it impossible for me to really keep any faith in the political system.

Maybe some what progressive but the most reactionary. You can't honestly call someone who is in a group that worships Palin as the "anti-establishment" politician progressive, I bet she runs on a republican ticket again. Also the racism displayed at rallys and the anti-Islam attacks. Plus they all have the 1920's idea of what socialism means.

The thing about these people is that they do not have a coherent political world view. They think in terms of soundbites and the "outrage(s) of the day/week", delivered by Fox News and the talk radio pundits. Everything is broken down into bite-sized outrages- Obama BOWED TO THE SAUDI KING!!! HE'S NOT A CITIZEN!!! They have no memory, and they do not make any attempt to take a full inventory of their views to see if there are any glaring contradictions. I could probably get any individual Tea Partier to endorse flat-out Marxist policies, but they shudder at the mention of socialism.
