Perhaps this should be in Chit Chat Instead of learning but in a way it is learning.
Do any of you know the proper pronunciation of No Pasaran? Spanish isn't taught at my high school until grade 12 and its driving me crazy when i try and explain it to someone.

No pah-sah-rAHN... the accent is over the last "a" so it's sort of monotonous until the "an" part where you give a bit of emphasis to it.

That's weird. Maybe Canada's a lot different, but I've been in Spanish classes since elementary school...

Yeah, it is probably because the maritimes do not have a lot of Latinos. Do you not have the option to take Mandarin in Vancouver also? I would imagine a person would since Vancouver's basically famous for its amount of Asian's.

I'm not sure if Mandarin is taught in high schools. Where I went to high school, it was either French, Spanish, or Japanese. Some other school had French, Spanish, and German. I know lots of kids took Mandarin exams so they didn't have to do their language requirement though.
And actually most Chinese here are from Hong Kong and thus primarily speak Cantonese, not Mandarin.

It's in my eyes an anti fascist propaganda slogan. It translates from Spanish to They shall not pass.
What I am referring to is Dolores Gomez "No Pasaran" Speech she used in the Spanish Civil War.
