Dear geeks of RevLeft,
For some reason, according to Task Manager I have four instances of Sketchup.exe running, and I have no idea why. They're (supposedly) using between 30 and 60 megs of RAM. But I don't have Sketchup open. Also, they won't be shut down.

Have you had SketchUp running at some point? Does it appear when you first start the computer up or reboot it? In the Start menu, there's that folder for programs that are to start when the computer starts, is SketchUp in there?

you might have malware or a virus that is preventing you from closing it.
My computer recently became infected with a nasty malware program called 'antimalware doctor'. I had to download another program to get rid of it.

are they all running on the same processor? if you have a multicore machine it might just be a threading thing if the program's threading is poorly made (I don't know anything about sketchup)
In re: the stuff at startup, go to start -> Run type msconfig, startup tab and deselect it, restart your computer and it should not start up automatically
