I was wondering if anyone else around here has seen the final film by Lucio Fulci called "Door To Silence (http://www.mondo-digital.com/fulci2.html)" (for some reason listed as "Door Into Silence" on the case (http://www.denofgeek.com/siteimage/scale/800/600/87350.png)).
I got the dvd a week ago and have watched it three times since, it's absolutely nothing like the famous Fulci's ("Demonia", "The Beyond", "House By The Cemetery", "Zombie", etc.) but along the lines of Rod Serling material and similar to the classic "Carnival Of Souls". I think it's damn near brilliant and it's great to actually see a good-in-all-respects Fulci movie. John Savage is awesome in the lead role, one of the best performances of his I've seen.
But it appears most people don't like it, which I put down to it's being completely unlike the Fulci films they enjoy.

Fulci is the fucking man. He's one of the few directors who I simultaneously love & consider a hack.

That said, I've never seen this particular film.

Very true. Most of his movies are, by conventional standards, crap, but still very entertaining, enduring, influential and fascinating crap. He was a brilliant filmmaker by taking all the things that would normally destroy a movie and making them work - anyone familiar with his filmography would know what I mean, but it's difficult to explain to those who haven't seen at least a handful of his movies. That's why "Door To Silence" is so tremendous; it's actually extremely well made for the no-budget he had to work with. You MUST check it out.
