A Pakistani hotel employee has won acclaim after handing in over $50,000 (£33,000) in cash that had been left behind by a guest.
Essa Khan, 51, discovered the money in $100 notes left in the room of a Japanese worker at the Serena Hotel in Gilgit.
Mr Khan, who earns about 21,000 rupees ($235; £153) a month, says he never considered keeping the money.
He has been invited to receive an award from a state governor for his honesty.
"My duty with the hotel and my family upbringing teaches me nothing else," he said.
"Times are hard for everyone, but that doesn't mean we should start stealing and taking things which do not belong to us."
Poor guy. he should've took at least a 1000 dollars worth. most of that money came from exploitation at the hands of corrup businessmen anyways (I have a hard time believing any capitalist is non-corrupt).
Regardless of his situation though, you can't help but be moved by his complete honesty. I wish the world was full of people like Essa Khan.

EDIT: what else makes me think that the money was acquired by the businessmen corruptly, was who just carries around 50,000 in cash like that in Pakistan, which is by many accounts, the most corrupt state on earth?

you have a real bug up your ass. I suggest you stop chewing down there, it seems to be spreading from your mouth.
...I could say "oh look, here comes another acne laden kid with a computer who uses an animated dog from a show who's contribution to society is an advance in "fart" and "retard" jokes, all while realizing that Brian Griffin is a stereotypical statist leftcon?

Seriously, How is that a "what-if" post? it was just a post that had some general good news.

I wouldn't give the money back. I would call giving it back "honest", but certainly not "good".

my point was his ethics. he put his honor and ethics above himself, and that is admirable.

It is admirable and while he and most people would see it as being the right thing to do, I think he should have just kept it.

The result of his taking of the money would have brought more happiness, he should have taken it.

who just carries around 50,000 in cash like that in PakistanHowever, your question will be one that continues to 'argue down' if this is a 'what if' or not, in lieu for you having nothing to back up your own allegation. Regardless, I don't see why this is in learning rather than chit-chat.

Request the mod to trash this thread. it's pointless now, and has been degenerated by useless bickering, myself included.
In many societies it is considered normal to give a finder a fee for giving it back, something like 5%. What a worthless piece of shit that just took the money and left.

I'd have taken that money and given it to the party in the country whose politics I most agreed with, or an insurgency I suppose. I call that honest :D

Given that the room was owned by a Japanese worker, did the money then belong to him?
