One of the more obnoxious right-wing talking points, as no one is a completely hands off politician when it comes to usage of money and tax dollars...
The sort of idea feels like an upper-class talking point of "not letting politician scumbags touch your hard earned money". I don't get it. The rich get tax breaks and loopholes and potentially a more regressive income tax system, subsidies etc etc... but when wealth is redistributed downward its a talking point?
:bored:
The ruling class are protecting their wealth and property. What else is new?
They've also got this strange idea that they've given to many workers that communists want to redistribute everyone's money - even the workers'.

That's because that's what it is. In rightist fantasy-land, the wealthy are the hard-working diligent folks who have achieved the American dream by pulling themselves up by their bootstraps, while the poorer proles are simply lazy and irresponsible sluggards who want the government to steal from the productive to subsidize their sloth. Racial minorities are usually associated with the latter group. This view is ultimately ironic, since redistribution of wealth is a necessary condition of protecting capitalism. I'd actually endorse the "laissez-faire" schemes if I wasn't worried that we'd slip into fascism when they inevitably failed.

There's a reason for this, and it didn't come out of thin air. The reason is Calvinism. The first settlers, fleeing religious persecution, were Calvinists, believing, as I'm sure many are aware, in pre-destination. What is overlooked however, is that Calvin also subscribed to the notion that Earthly wealth was a reflection of divine blessing and an intrinsic moral character (because the wealthy are wealthy due to God's design). Hence, the American marriage between class and human worth was born.

Its a disgrace and at times and i find it mockingly humourous, when my laughter is directed at capitalists... i laugh when they say idiotic remarks like this ( This is in reference to the poor people who are affected by imperialism when big corporations (yankee orientated) infiltrate the country through a borgeoise government there by exploiting the people for greater profits.
For example ,why would it not be possible for them to drink " Coca Cola all day " lol !:lol:

The idea is that your money is being taken and given to those too lazy to work. total crap. They hide the existence of the massive amounts of wealth the rich have. They ignore that their living standards would go up tremendously under socialism

Taxation is theft - not because my money is being used to fund some hospitals or help someone get health insurance, but because the US is fucking blowing up Afghans and giving Israel the means to blow up Palestinians.

Here in the UK the PCS union estimate the super rich dodge £120billion of uncollected taxes every year. According to the Con/Lib millionaire cabinet the UK deficit is £155billion, so even getting this elite minority to pay their dues for 16 months would plug that hole and could save public spending from the savage cuts its now being subjected to. However, as we are well aware, the government are their carers and the state their protector, so it would be ridiculous to think for one minute that any element of fairness might enter in to it. That is only taking tax in to consideration, there are many schemes in which public money is transferred to private institutions and individuals.
So while the rich get away with not paying their taxes they shift the cost of this on to millions of people who rely on public services to exist. We saw what happened with the Mid-Staffordshire NHS trust where deliberate cuts in the budget led to the 400 (known) deaths of patients. Basically a criminal act, and the trust manager, the health secretary and in fact the whole Labour cabinet should have been tried for manslaughter for this. I would personally favour hanging them all. A recent European wide study also showed that cuts in public spending lead to increased mortality among the section of the population who rely on them most. It stands to reason that 25% of cuts to UK public spending will have a miserable effect on many millions of people's standard of life, and some will indeed pay the ultimate price. The rich are literally getting away with murder but it doesn't phase them. They would take every penny if they could. Throughout history the ruling classes have had an insatiable desire for wealth and today is no different and they would act just as ruthlessly as before if anybody tried to redress the balance.

i said that to one of my collegues and he looked at me with an implied facepalm!!

It might be best to concede that theft is theft regardless of what the stolen property is used for, meaning that theft might be moral in some circumstances if it produced more beneficial consequences than the absence of theft would have, though I consider this generally unlikely, since superior circumstances produced by the involuntary transfer of property from someone usually indicate that there was distributive injustice to begin with.
