Does anyone have any info on Karl Kautsky's Forerunners of Modern Socialism? It was never translated fully into English but seems to be an excellent work covering the whole history of socialist ideas and movements from Plato to Marx.
The sections at MIA on Cromwell, More's Utopia, and the Peasant's War are excellent pieces of Marxist historical analysis.
I'm not sure exactly what other eras are covered but I assume there would be notes on Ancient Greek and Enlightenment utopian communists.
I think Vol 2 is in German at google books but it mostly covers the topics already translated at MIA.
Anyway if anyone has more info on the book, please let me know.
