In high school, my friend thought Eric Clapton's "Layla" was "Gay Love"Talking of homosexuality and famous guitar players, Jimi Hendrix's "Purple Haze" (think it was Purple Haze) the lyric 'scuse me while I kiss the sky was widely mistook for 'scuse me while I kiss this guy and the song was a gay rights anthem for a while.

Talking of homosexuality and famous guitar players, Jimi Hendrix's "Purple Haze" (think it was Purple Haze) the lyric 'scuse me while I kiss the sky was widely mistook for 'scuse me while I kiss this guy and the song was a gay rights anthem for a while.
In the live version on the Voodoo Child album, he says "'scuse me while I kiss that guy".
