i read a review of it that was beyond hilarious, wish i could find the link now. basically there are various holes in the storyline and logical errors in terms of how the plot progresses but the absolute funniest part in the review was where they quoted a passage in which the two main characters passionately kiss for the first time after much steamy buildup, and then immediately start casually chatting about the virtues of reducing taxes.

Beck doesn't have a libertarian bone in his body; even the pseudo-libertarians who have misappropriated the word don't accept him.

His whole project with the novel just seemed to me like him ripping off Alongside Night.
In fact he even mentioned AN on his show once, although he called it "Alongside Morning", lol.

I understand that the book was largely ghost written.

All of the books "written" by these partisan hack commentators are largely ghostwritten, and still of poor quality even after that.
