As a Russian American, this shit really bothers me.
I had ALOT of family die in Velekaya Otechstvenaya Voy'na, orWWII. many of my great uncles almost died, alot of my great cousins died, and my grandfather is missing an eye.
Many Russians have family dead from the siege of Stalingrad, fighting on the Operation Babarrossa. and other terrifying battles.
So what the hell is this shit:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aLUxuq-E9yA
what happened?
Why are all these morons worshiping a man who wanted to kill their families, who saw our people as "scum", who set up extermination camps in Poland for the extermination of Slavic people (not just the jews, but many slavs died in German death camps)?
Don't they even see how self-hating this is? It's like if a black man became a Ku Klux Klan member. this shit just doesn't add up.
why? like, why? I read Russian news all the time and even they don't know why. something about "unemployment" etc. but why the hell Nazism? like, Nazis...I'm still mad.
I wonder what their grandfathers would think.

Many young Russians today do not know about Yuri Gagarin or Sputnik, and since they expect their rulers to lie about everything, a sort of moral nihilistic relativism is the foundational ideology of the national consensus. In such an environment, its easy to glorify one's butchers.

To be honest, I don't know much about Hitler's opinion of Slavic people, but today's neo-nazis from Russia probably think that Hitler's animosity was more due to politics of Soviet Union than about hate for their nation. Also, not all Slavic countries were enemies of the third Reich, for example, Croatia, Slovakia and Bulgaria were allies of Hitler, even in Serbia(where I come from), where thousands of people died in resistance to the nazis, there were many supporters (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Serbia_%281941-1944%29) and collaborators (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Serbian_Volunteer_Corps_%28World_War_II%29).And I don't think that Russia is the only country with people of Slavic descent that have that problem either, unfortunately there are many of them in Serbia, Slovakia and Croatia too, as far as I know. :(

I read Russian news all the time and even they don't know why.Oh, yes they do. Russian mass media are the ones spreading anti-communist propaganda 24/7 and portraying the Nazi Germany as a far lesser evil than the USSR. The modern Russian state is directly responsible for the rise of neo-nazism in Russia. Some of the most notorious neo-nazi organizations like Slavyanskiy Soyuz(Slavic Union) and Russikiy Obraz(Russian Image) have ties to Kremlin. The political and financial elites in Russia see communists and any other radical leftists as a threat to their class interests, so they rely on neo-nazis to counteract that "threat". There exists a certain degree of cooperation between neo-nazis and the police: if an anti-fascist is caught by the police in Russia, he is almost certain to have his address given away to the the nazis(on top of being tortured). It also doesn`t help that some 70 percent of the police personnel have xenophobic views themselves(based on a survey done in 2003).
Anyway, you can read Russian, yes? Here`s a very in-depth article about the roots of nazism in Russia: scepsis.ru/library/id_2721.html

Тогда социологи обнаружили, что 57% россиян опасались превращения молодежных движений в отряды погромщиков, причем каждый четвертый (26%) считал, что ими могут стать скинхеды или национал-патриоты[3 (http://scepsis.ru/library/id_2722.html#a3)].
[293 (http://scepsis.ru/library/id_2731.html#a293)]. :( the story of the little Tajik girl was easily the most disturbing shit I read there. how can someone do that to a little girl? and the percentage of skinheads or potential skinheads are so high...I hope those figures are wrong, but then again, if they could do that to a little girl and I see the Russian media trying to justify it while at the same time they claim it was no biggy...idk.
But further reading the article, it seems like the media is encouraging it slyly so as not to seem like they are openly condoning it, but when they call black russians getting ganged up on for no reason outside the Patrice Lumumba university as "simple street brawls" it really makes you wonder what the fuck.

This is saddening and disgusting... to the point in which one is left speechless because of the shock and the horror.
USSR had a hand on this, their "mistakes", see executions, gulags etc, forced just like it happened to your case, peoples family who suffered from Stalins choices, made them to hate "communism" so much, that they turned to the biggest opponent available.Of course this shows a naive and brainless person, and judging from their ideology, a really stupid brainwashed one.
Beside that, russia is just another capitalist country, the fact that it has neo-nazis dont surprises me, russians werent targeted as a race, but they were targetted as a huge opposing military position, and one of those who stood against Hitler, they were the only country big enough to fight them actually.
So no, i wouldnt compare it with black people in kkk meetings, or any other similar case.
They arent anything special, they are just yet some more brainless fucking idiots.

Pretty much this. Oh, and Hitler's target after the political prisoners and Jews I believe was the Slavic people. Might be wrong.

I think Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn was a product of this. After making some deragatory comments against Stalin, he was jailed and then became a huge proponent of fascism, I believe. He was openly supportive of Franco's regime, I know that.

The fall of the Soviet Union and the subsequent harsh realities of market capitalism caused an ideological vacuum in Russia, which coupled with immigration from other parts of the former USSR and agitation from the reactionary right has resulted in shit like this on a scale that was unimaginable just a few decades ago. Xenophobia never went away in the USSR, but only since perestroika has it been so openly state-sanctioned.

So then... with the Xenophobia and the ideological vacuum, who is going to be the ultimate winner in the struggle?

That's lovely... so then we're stuck seeing history repeat itself over and over... nice to know that our world is a world of spirals... :(

Hmm, a teacher that I had this past year figures that these cycles (with the assumption that they're allowed to follow as they have for years) will last for eternity because of how quickly people forget the miserable times in their past when they're in a time that they think is good and fruitful... so with that said, the only way things are going to change is with the "business cycle" quarking worse than normal causing people to snap back into reality to fully realize that this cycle does not work at all.
