Ok so I started doing this here ("http://www.revleft.com/vb/iraq-war-casualties-t64242/index28.html). I've decided to start a new thread here which I will update weekly. I'm going to focus on British casualties. If anyone would like to do updates on other countries please be my guest.

Update on the British armed forces dead.

As of 02/07/10

Total serving British armed forces personnel killed since the start of hostilities in Afghanistan in October 2001:310

Of these, 272 were killed as a result of hostile action.

38 are known to have died either as a result of illness, non-combat injuries or accidents, or have not yet officially been assigned a cause of death pending the outcome of an investigation. The balance of these figures may change as inquests are concluded.

A more detailed breakdown of fatalities and casualties can be found here.

question: where are the casualties for Afghanis? are they not human enough, that they don't get included in your death toll?

is a white life more valuable than an Afghani life?

Maybe Fullmetal Anarchist could not find statistics or an ongoing tally of Afghan war dead. Don't be so hasty to jump to conclusions which are completely unfounded.

Sadly I've been unable to find an accurate total. Some estimates are in the thousands, others are in the ten's of thousand's.

Not at all the case but it's easier to track armed forces casualties. I'm trying to highlight the terrible waste of life in general. I do apologise if I've offended anyone but as I said before feel free to do the reasearch and post here.

Ok I thought I'd show some facts and figures for you all. Afghanistan may be in the news less but it no less dangerous than Iraq. In fact it's worse. I borrowed from the BBC as they are a very good source and also tried al-Jazeera (I think thats right anyway) but couldn't find much in English. So some facts, figures and stats (http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/8143196.stm) it's mind boggling how many have lost their lives to this war.

Ok I'll concede a point. But apart from Afghanistan and Iraq(Both of which were U.S ops) can you name one modern example where the Brits haven't gone in till its neccessary?

The British, as well as the Russian's have both been in Afghanistan on and off for years. The British wanted control of the area to use it as a buffer zone between their Empire in India and the Russian Empire to the north, it was part of the Great Game (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Great_Game).

Sorry this has been neglected for a while but I've had a bit of a health scare recently and I decided to focus on life for a bit. Anyway I'm ok now sort of and I thought I'd update.

I know it's gone on too long maybe now the governments will sit up and take notice since it's not just squaddies being killed anymore.
