The left need to stop with their fixation for violence, i have browsed revleft, and it just makes me cringe, how many fucking threads we have, either dedicated to arming the homeless population, or debating the use of forklifts in uprisings, down to making napalm and asking wether the game red guerrilla faction, can be used as sound advice for real life FTW.

1) People think we are batshit crazy, and dismiss us.
2) It seems to put the best users on revleft off and they bugger off to chitchat or get tired of Memes.
3) It would be far better to i don't know, discuss how to build grassroots socialism, and discuss how to ensure workers control ans rally workers, not about what gun would be good for guerrilla warfare, that some people see as an imminent happening.

To be honest, violence could or might fail, against the wealth and arms of the USA, UK, India, China etc.; I'm not sure why abolishing a social relation and instituting a whole new mode of production inherently entails blowing loads of shit up, manning the forklifts and arming the homeless. In fact, I'm fairly sure it doesn't really need this. If "the people" (pardon me for using such an ambiguous word, I just mean the vast majority of a said society) wants abolition of wage-labour, money, the state, classes, exploitation etc. then it will happen. RevLeft is a discussion board, it is not a good place to learn about revolutionary politics. The best place to learn about revolutionary politics are in the writings of revolutionary authors, Marx, Lenin, Fanon. What this board is good for is directing young and inexperienced leftists to those sources to learn, and then to discuss and debate (and argue) those issues once they're familiar with them.

The thing is, the angrier you get about this forklift thing, the more ridiculous you look. Nobody takes that forklift thing seriously. It was a thread that was started in Learning by a well meaning but probably very youthful poster and since then it's become a running joke. In fact, most of the things you mentioned in your original post as problems are not things that the heavy posters here take seriously.

Let me put it this way; every so often we get new posters here who are passionate, zealous and eager to change the world. If this were the Vietnam War we could call these guys "FNGs." While their zeal and passion is admirable, the truth is that like FNGs in Vietnam, they don't really know what's going on or why things are the way they are. RevLeft is a discussion board, it is not a good place to learn about revolutionary politics. The best place to learn about revolutionary politics are in the writings of revolutionary authors, Marx, Lenin, Fanon. What this board is good for is directing young and inexperienced leftists to those sources to learn, and then to discuss and debate (and argue) those issues once they're familiar with them.

The thing is, the angrier you get about this forklift thing, the more ridiculous you look. Nobody takes that forklift thing seriously. It was a thread that was started in Learning by a well meaning but probably very youthful poster and since then it's become a running joke. In fact, most of the things you mentioned in your original post as problems are not things that the heavy posters here take seriously.

Let me put it this way; every so often we get new posters here who are passionate, zealous and eager to change the world. If this were the Vietnam War we could call these guys "FNGs." While their zeal and passion is admirable, the truth is that like FNGs in Vietnam, they don't really know what's going on or why things are the way they are. They make threads about how the vast majority of everyone is doing something wrong, whether that's being too reformist, too violent, too sectarian, not sectarian enough, or perhaps a combination of any of those, unaware that their defiant stand is only the latest in a long string of defiant stands. None of the veterans tend to be impressed by it. The FNGs alienate everyone else in the unit, and eventually they either burn themselves out and we simply stop hearing from them, or they end up going too far and getting banned. It's like stepping on a landmine or getting trench foot because you didn't change your god-damn socks often enough.

Don't be an FNG man. Cause I'm seeing you start to wander over to that minefield.

He took the most impartial and level headed approach of anyone in this thread in posting that, as as someone who has seen what he's saying first hand (as all the regulars have, again and again), I think he was giving pretty sound advice.
