Hello, my name is Ben. My political ideology is very left-wing socially but economically it's more center-left. So I'm unsure weather I belong in the main forums or in the opposing views section. You make the choice.:D

Anyhow, I hope to enjoy my stay here and have some good debates/conversations. :) Peace.

Well, that's a tough call to make with so little info. What do you consider to be your center-left economic views? Do you happen to agree that a social revolution is needed to overthrow the current order before humanity can progress?

Hmm, I believe in a mixed economy between socialism and capitalism, I think that the government should give people free health care, education, electricity, food, water, clothing, roads, housing for the homeless, welfare, etc. But I don't think the gonvenment should control let's say sneaker factories or movie theaters. Also, I believe that the government should regulate companies so they don't do unethical things like pollute the enviroment, use sweatshops, treat animals unfairly and treat their employess badly. On the revolution issue, I think that we need a (peaceful) revolution to get rid of these representitive "democracies" so us citizens of the earth can have a true DIRECT democracy.

Your views sound more like reformism than socialist/communist/anarchist. You seem to view "socialism" as a big governmenment owning everything, something akin to the welfare states of western Europe. This however is social-democracy, a political offshoot in the workers movement that counts on the human tendency for conservative attitudes and has historically played the role of being the leftwing face of the capitalist order.

Socialism is a class society like capitalism, with the key difference that in socialism it is no longer the capitalist class that owns the economy (and therefore much of society), but the workers and society itself. Communists and anarchists claim that capitalism has no longer any progressive tendencies, as the current world crisis for example is showing, and therefore needs to be completely overthrown, not merely changed bit by bit.

Revolutions are social movements of the masses arising against the system. Whether you like them or not, such risings are a natural feature of class societies. It is our task as revolutionaries to be conscious on the political tasks of the social revolutions ahead and strive towards success when the next opportunity appears. Our goal is communism (or anarchism, which is pretty much the same thing): a classless and stateless society in which humanity is free from all social restraints we have to endure under class society.

Alright, it sounds to me like I'm pretty far off from that. Throw me into the "opossing views" forum then. ;)
