I've already checked out this thread (http://www.revleft.com/vb/political-organisations-t27951/index.html)

But it didn't really tell me much, so I'll see if I can get any wisdom off the Anarchists here on Revleft.

What can I find in the way of Melbourne Anarchism? Or heck, even the Melbourne Far-Left in general. What to join, what to avoid. I already gave the Socialist Alternative a visit a couple of years back, and they were...odd, to say the least. And Alpha Kappa tells me the MAC (Melbourn Anarchist Club) are little more than 10 people strong.

That's more or less the extent of my knowledge. Any old, wizened Melbournian Anarchists with any advice on what organisations are worth joining/looking into?

Libcom is probably a much better place for this sort of thing. Alot of helpful Aussies on there that can take care of you.

MAC is the only group I'm familiar with. They seem like a decent bunch, irrespective of personalities. Pretty swish journal they got nowadays. Regarding size, what do you expect? Better, fewer but better. I guess.

Nic.

Sad thing is, I might be the most knowledgeable Melbournian anarchist on Revleft. We live in shitty times.

Christ, the MAC's most important events are annual barbecues.

The best leftist activity we have around here are all those gay rights rallies and a few Marxism conferences at the university.

After some quick browsing, I have found a few groups and web pages.
http://ayp.subvert.info/org.php?city=Melbourne&state=Victoria&country=Australia - Listing of anarchist organisations in Melbourne
http://maicollective.blogspot.com/ - Melbourne Anti-Intervention Collective
http://melbourneprotests.wordpress.com/ - Melbourne Protests
http://melbourneblack.wordpress.com/ - Melbourne Black
http://anarchy.org.au/?p=7 - Self explanatory

That's about it, really.
