It would be good if some of these were made. Maybe with one explaining the main tenents of the theory, and others explaining major events.
Historical Materialism (imo) really makes sense of history, and when i tell people about it they are usualy quite impressed with the theory and agree with it. Also if people understand historical materialism, accepting the idea of communism is much easier - learning about it really consolidated my communism. If people were able to watch a documentary applying it to an event it would popularise it i think. People like to watch history documentaries. Therefore i think some should be made. Does anyone agree?
Why did the USSR etc not ever make any? Or any of the Communist Party Historians?

I agree, once I read and understood the materialist conception of history, the various systems of production/primitive accumulation, the way in which reality itself is dictated by our relation to the means of production coupled with the rise of the modern capitalist state communism just made sense.

Why not set up a revleft workgroup?
We need a few researchers and someone who knows how to make a good video.
I believe that revleft should be more practically oriented, and since moving pictures is the dominating medium through which most people get their view of the world, the revolutionary left must produce more documentaries and information videos.

^^^ You don't need much expertise with creating video--as with all things, it's a method based on trial and error. All sorts of mistakes have been made in the production of films: the point is not to produce a "perfect" product, but to get the general public interested in a particular thought or idea.
That having been said, I would be more than willing to participate in a project of this sort. It is amazing what little resources are required today to share information--just look at what your average flip phone is capable of: voice and video recording, Internet browsing, audio playback, etc. The boundaries are nearly limitless. And with the prevalence of video and data sharing networks (Youtube, Facebook, and so forth), it would be quite easy to share the spoils, so to speak. Many bits of software are available to execute (sometimes quite fantastic) "post-op" to any piece of video or sound. I myself am faintly familiar with Adobe Premiere and some open source variants. That should be enough; we will learn as we go. Les' du eete!
