Who do you say is going to win the world cup?
My heart is with Ghana but my head is with Argentina Maradona.
I still have my doubts...

Going with Germany. I just love their movement/passing and generally intelligent play. This will cause problems for other teams (even if they are not as willing to roll over as Ingerland)

Brazil. They looked very solid today. I'm hoping for a Brazil-Argentina final, the football elitist that i am.

I'm guessing Argentina, but can't say I'd mind seeing some Fernando Torres :tt1: action from Spain. I'm guessing an Argentina v Brazil final.

Would love to see Ghana win it. Would be happy to see anyone else left in it win except for Brazil who unfortunately will win it. Argentina V Brazil final, with Brazil winning because they can defend.

Spain. I am the only one apparently. But I think Argentina has a damned good chance as well. Brazil too. I am not sure why so many people think Ghana is going to win it all. They are a good team, but compared to some of the other teams still in it...well, I just don't think they even have a chance.

I'm on the Spanish bus as well. After that, it's Germany, Argentina, then Brazil. The only explanation I can come up with for the Ghana bandwagon is that people are letting their politics get in the way of their better judgement in terms of this side or that's particular strengths and weaknesses.

Argentina then Germany.

Well, I still think Spain. But my second and third choices are out. Right now I'd say Germany will win if Spain doesn't make it to the final.

After that game against Argentina, I have to agree. That was an impressive showing.

I believe Germany will win the World Cup. They played very impressively in their matches against England and Argentina, they probably had the strongest opponents towards the semi finals and still managed to win with a big lead.

If Spain wins the next match, then I root for Holland
But If Germany wins, then I will root for Germany.
But I really like the Dutch team and would love to see a new team win the Cup. :thumbup1:

Not really. Just pointing out your hit and miss record. Mine is hardly any better. But Spain has denied the haters thus far, so lets get 'em Spain!

'Not Germany' is my answer. Fair enough, Spain played better.
The commentators seemed quite pleased after the match at the prospect of a Spain-Netherlands final, 'the best two teams never to have won the World Cup' they were saying.
I'll just be perverse and say the Netherlands.

Most people here were expecting Germany to walk over Spain. I can understand that reaction. When you look at their respective knock-out stage opponents so far (England-Argentina and Portugal-Paraguay) and how they performed against them (Germany doing extremely well, Spain having some difficulties breaking them down), that seems like the logical conclusion.
But of course it's a very poor analysis to simply look at team names and match results. "Score board journalism" as a great man once called it. This completely sidesteps the fact that the "weaker" teams can frustrate a side like Spain for a long time, while sides like England and Argentina may not be what they are cracked up to be. What matters is what teams like Spain and Germany can do against each other, and in that respect, I also had Germany as favourites, but I did not rule out Spain. As it turns out, Spain did an excellent job to get into the finals.

Easy to say that Spain would win after they had won. :tt2:
It takes more to foresee that they are going to win before they won.

 I said this was Spain's cup before the cup started. Like two months ago. And four years ago I called Italy during the quarter finals.
So yeah, Paul the octopus has got nothing on me.

i would have eaten octopus if it wasnt that hard to get. still, same family of species, its the symbolism that counts. Squid are from the order Teuthida, Octopus is of order Octopoda. Each order has multiple families within it. They are of the same class, Cephalopoda. Having said that, they are both chewy and yummy.
