Dreams interest me. They seem to interest a lot of people; I'd guess that's why all ancient cultures tack on some kind of significance to them. Anyway, what have been some reoccuring dreams/nightmares you've had?
For me, one of the most frequent ones is drowning. Usually it's me sinking deeper and deeper into the ocean, watching the last rays of light disappear from view until everything is darkness. I also get the classic falling dreams every now and then.
A good part of the year I live in isolation from a large part of the outside world, and that's when the dreams are the most intense, so much so that I can clearly remember lines of dialogue that characters "spoke" to me in my dreams. One nightmare I had was so terrifying that I snapped awake to find myself crawling out of my own window. I don't even remember what that one was about, though.

Three days ago, I dreamt that I had assigned to a summer course on the local University. The summer course was about taking a rocket launcher and shooting black helicopters approaching over the campus with armed soldiers in some sort of cyberpunk uniforms. The helicopters fell down over the rooftops but disappeared in blazes of fire without hurting the university.
Then the Illuminati-like guy from "The Librarian"-movies came to me and gave me a book where every letter was turned wrong.

it's obviously related someway to the zeitgeist movement

I have one constantly, usually just before I get up, that I wake up and go about my morning business. You know, shit, shower, shave and all that. Before long, I realize I'm still asleep and I do it over and over again. Usually, after about the second or third time, I'm aware that I'm asleep and can't wake up or move. Basically, I'm conscious and trapped for what seems like forever and then I finally wake up, alot of times screaming.
What do you make of that one, eh?

I remember dreams very, very infrequently.
Usually it's just my everyday life but certain aspects won't make much sense, like people I know will be acting very out of character (though I won't realize it until I woke up, obviously). I can't think of any examples because I don't even remember any dreams I've had right now, I just remember my reactions to them upon waking up.

I had a bizarre dream the other night. I was walking down some residential street next to a forest, and I stopped in front of a normal looking one-story house. I heard some gibberish drifting from the house, but it sounded deliberate, like some kind of incantation. It went on for a while, stopped, and then someone inside the house started screaming. An older woman emerged from the house, still screaming, and she sprinted off into the woods. I bring myself to move away from the house, but instead of entering the forest, I hid behind a large rock on the edge. I looked back at the house, and there was an old man standing in the front doorway, and every time I looked back, he was staring out of a different window. I start to leave, and I realize I'm being followed. I turn around, and the old man is standing behind me, and I got a clear look at him. He was covered in scars and had something like a tumor over his eye, and I kind of felt bad for him, but I told him to go away. Instead of leaving, he rapidly began to age backwards until he became a fetus, but when I stopped yelling he would age 70 years in one second.
I can't remember what happened after that point. :(

As I said in another thread, last night I dreamt of an ostrich invading my house, the ostrich had arms which which it opened doors. It was more scared of me than I was of it, so I guess it didn't really "invade" my house, it was sorta trapped there.
Generally I dream of being in an elaborate place (think castles) with another person (generally a person of sexual interest), and I'm always running around looking for someone else, frantically turning corners to find noone, getting frustrated etc... I always wake up before I find the person I'm looking for.
I've had a few other wierd dreams, but I figure I'll share them along the course of the thread.

I consistently dream of being offered a choice between eternally eating chocolate or strawberry poptarts, keep in mind I fucking HATE strawberry poptarts. I can see myself in the dream thinking about the choice and I'm like you fucking dipshit pick chocolate. But the "me" that is given the choice thinks it's a trap and picks strawberry, pisses me off every time. I spend the rest of the dream miserable and I wake up angry at myself.
I also consistently dream of being eaten by a giant strawberry poptart. I then have to eat my way out of the poptart which, hating strawberry poptarts, is utterly disgusting.

I have the worst goddamn nightmares. They aren't really scary as much as they're just fucking dreadful.
One I still remember is one where I was walking down some desert highway with another guy. He says "Yeah, I could probably survive another blast without shelter if I had to". Then there's a flash of light in the distance, and I look back at the guy I was walking with and he's just being obliterated by this atomic blast. It isn't gory or anything and he's not screaming but he's just sort of dissolving in front of me and then I'm alone.
Then there's this other one where I'm in this overgrown town that looks vaguely like a street in my area. All the houses on the street look neglected, but not really abandoned. Sky is blue, trees are green, as is the grass sprouting up in the cracks in the road. I walk around the town and whenever I get near a house, I get a pins-and-needles feeling all over and start to feel warm. I hear this wild clicking sound going crazy and some intense bass-heavy sound, and my vision cuts to static like a T.V. would, and I'm just filled with a sense of dread.
I had another dream in that town. This time I walked up the road. It came to a hill, which I walked to the top of, and found a big cemetary there just in the middle of the street, stretching out like 50 feet around. I walk a little further and just past some small mausoleums or whatever, there's just a massive goddamn whole in the earth, like one of the gigantic sinkholes you see in the news that swallow up entire office buildings, except this one looks even more unnatural. I get the pins-and-needles feeling and all that again, and I catch a glimpse of a man in a suit standing off in the distance in a clearing, looking hella unnatural with some fucked up proportions, looking way wider and much taller than a person actually should be.
Didn't have another dream like that yet. I remember waking up feeling really sad and stressed.
My dreams consistently feature social awkwardness and displacement. This one time everybody around me in my daily interaction were really pornstars. Pornstars I've seen seen before, doing it for money. But they all went about their day as if it was nothing - as if they weren't pornstars. I didn't know if I was supposed to tell a joke, get horny, complement them for their previous sexual athletics or what! No matter what I would do I'd come off as the lowliest person.

Weird fucking dream this one time.
I just crawled around naked outside under this blanket. I'd like lay there in a busy intersection and just wank under the cover hoping noone would see. After I bit, I'd crawl around to another busy area.

I've been having alot of dreams lately. My dreams are always very uncomfortable and unpleasant. They are kinda great fun in a way too.
The last one I had involved learning we had overnight adopted 3 stray cats, 2 of which were identical to one I own already.
I then proceeded to put a tray of half a dozen pork chops in the grill and a tray of some 2 dozen miniature steaks in the oven. Not realising the grill was on at the time, the pork chops burnt and ruined at which point I proceeded to throw myself into a hysterical fit, rolling on the floor, crying, screaming. Then when I checked the steaks they had somehow been transported to the grill and turned into massive raw chicken breasts.
At about this point my hot neighbour came through the front door looking for her brother, but instead looking as she did years ago when she was went to primary school, chubby.
Not nearly as interesting as some of the dreams the rest of you have. :(

I had a dream recently where prisoners were being hanged in public and I was a spectator or something, I couldn't tell. I don't know what for or who exactly they were. The weird thing about it though is that I wasn't sure whether I was just watching in the crowd or I was to be hanged later, and there was this extreme butterfly feeling in my stomach, the kind you get before your track and field event or graduation. The dream content shifted after that (I was oblivious to the change of setting while in my dream. Isn't that weird? Does that happen to anyone else?) and I was driving with my ex and we were lost. I still had that nervousness.

You know what sucks ass? I dream in computer code some times. Even the night fails to bring respite from my job.
Does anyone else do things like this? I had a friend who studied linguistics, he said that some times he would dream grammar trees and equations, at the time I pitied the fool but here I am trying to figure out how to break a for loop as I dream.
And people say I can be a boring conversationalist.

For the past couple years, I occasionally have recurring dreams about animals dying. Every few months or so I get a really emotional dream about any sort of animal dying, and in my dream I'm just hysterically upset about it...

Do you get David Lynch to write your dreams?
Ooh, also, cheese can cause nightmares, but pretty piss-weak ones. I was in a relaxed, dimly lit dark green room and I start getting bothered by a wasp.
Now compare that to the worst nightmare I can remember. I hear a voice say 'David Hume', then there's two 18th Century men talking about the price of scientific advance, and next we have some dingey black-and-steel lab where a dead nine-year-old boy is chained to a stone bed covered in blood and shit. Then the perspective moves to where I become the living twin brother, and then zoning out, I, in my actual form, am looking through the window like a melancholy Madonna.

I've had this same dream 3 times in the past month..
The guy I am in the dream isn't me, just some random character, I am driving along a highway with some other guy and his girl, it's night, it's winter, and eventually we see this bright orangy light in the sky. As we get closer it turns out to be a volcano erupting across the highway, people are crashing off the road, running around screaming, police & fire fighters are trying to restore order. The road is blocked so we get out and walk around the chaos to other side of the highway. We hear from behind us there's a train we can get on to get us away from here, but I have a vision telling me not to go. I hold us back and just as everyone else gets on the train the volcano erupts again and devours the train. We walk to our apartment building and go upstairs, we argue about where to put the couch (??? lol) and I look outside and I see a tree swaying, I go outside to look at it and branches start falling almost on me, I hide under another tree to avoid them and then wake up.
I also have alot of dreams where I start loosing all my teeth. And I've had one where I went to scratch my arm and ripped all the skin off.

Also, I think I dreamt about my mum the other night. I think she was advising me on something but I can't remember what. Most times I've dreamt of her have been pretty nightmarish. Once she was completely vegetative in a car being driven round York late at night. I asked the driver to stop so I could take a leak, then fell down the plughole and drowned.

That's happened before to me (work invading my sleep). When I'm fishing I often fall asleep to visions of me pulling the net into the boat...endless meshes that serve the same function as "counting sheep", I guess. Sometimes I also wake up to find myself clawing at my bed after dreaming about endlessly trying to find a fish that's caught in the net and being unable to.
I had a nightmare recently about being trapped in the building I work in (I work on a huge construction project), in total darkness. It's like a maze in there, so I had a pretty big panic attack in my dream.

About two months ago I had a bizarre dream about revleft. This was when I first got on this forum. Some background; in real life I was house sitting for my parents. I had the house all to myself for several weeks. On weekends I'd stay up till around 2 or 3 AM reading online.I was a bit isolated. One night I stumbled across the Hoxhaist threads on revleft. I was curious, I've heard of Enver Hoxha at university but I didn't know this was a tendency.I stayed up very late reading posts by Ismail and Prairie Fire to try to figure this out.I'm not obsessive, I constantly read a lot of stuff on just about everything. Okay, the dream...
Its hard to describe. It was based on surrealistic imagery and feelings. I was in a prison, a center for political prisoners run by some sort of dictatorship. There may have been a crackdown after a failed revolution. The prison was dimly lit and grungy looking. This was a prison for leftist dissidents. Each prisoner was in their own cell. I had the vague feeling that each cell represented a political tendency. This wasn't in a negative sense, that tendencies are prison cells, just that was the way the authorities arranged us. This was combined w/revleft; each cell was also a post, they fit they schema of posts in a thread. The person in the cell next to me was either a Hoxhaist or was "Hoxhaism" in general. This person was vaguely female.
I tried to communicate with the other prisoners. For some reason this was very difficult. I felt an intense feeling of, I can't really describe it, not really loneliness but a sort of existential dread. It was very disturbing how isolated everyone was. I started screaming. This went on for a while until I woke myself up.
I stayed up the rest of the night.

Wow. I never have dreams like the ones in here. The ones that I remember that are the most fucked are the ones that could happen in real life. For example, home break ins and shit like that. I had a funnier dream about a home break in that involved John Locke (the Lost character). He walked up beside me and asked me something and I said "No. Get the fuck out of here!". And then I forcibly pushed him out of the front door and locked the doors. I don't remember beyond then.

One recurring dream i have is where i can fly just high enough to go over a house but if i go any higher i will crash to the ground and literally feel the impact and bones breaking.
Another one is where i am either driving a car or just running but i can not slow down and just keep on accelerating until i smash into something along with all the pain that goes with such an impact.
Once i also got stuck under that car (a willy's jeep with no roof) and 3 people came walking up to me and started stabbing me to death with sharp sticks.

I have had a bunch of weird dreams, though I can only remember three well enough to describe thoroughly.
1. I had this dream a while back, but it was really weird. I was at some sort of graduation thing and I was in line to go on stage. I realize that I am naked for whatever reason, I forgot to put my clothes on. So, I dash behind boxes and such and get back to dressing room or what have you and put on some clothes. I get back in line and find myself naked again. I once again sneak back and put clothes on. This happens about two more times. And then I, fully dressed, enter the stage, only to find no one there and myself once again naked. I woke up after that.
2. I was viewing this dream like a movie. There was an old man, who I knew was me, somewhere in Brazil. I (the old man) was wearing a brown overcoat and snip brim hat. I was wondering around some sort of shipyard. They were launching ships at very high speed using electricity, which then pulsed through the water. I observed this for a while and then talked to what I presume was a captain of a ship. He said something about the seas being good today and hurried off. I then went over to two old women who where dressed as if it were 1940. I walked up to them and started to speak, when they said, "Sorry dear we're busy right now" Like one would to a pestering child. I walked over to the edge of the dock and looked down at my reflection. I then was in the water (Presumably I jumped in). People on the dock were yelling to get me out , a ship was about to launch. The ship then launched and I felt the shock and saw a blinding white light. I then woke up sweating and unable to move.
3.My father and I were collecting papers in the back of a Publix (A supermarket in Fl) we deliver. There were people approaching, bad people. I knew we had to leave, but I kept counting papers instead. A panicked feeling came over me as the got closer. But we kept working. Finally, when they were only a few yards away, we finish and jump in our cars. I start to drive off and the people burst into a sprint. Everything went into slow motion. A thin man with goatee who was wearing a wife-beater, came up along side my car. He had a gun out and pointed it at me. There was a flash of light and I woke up sweating and unable to move, just like the other dream.

Here's a weird one:
I dreamed I was taking a shower, when one of my aunts climbed in (fully clothed) and started a conversation like nothing was wrong. I angrily climbed out of the shower to find that there were 3 or 4 people that had set up an HDTV in the bathroom, and were watching a football game. I grabbed a towel and went to my room to get dressed. I pulled out a pair of scratchy plaid pants I didn't recognize, and when I looked at the manufacturer, it said "Rammstein." After getting dressed, I went downstairs to find one of my friends sitting on the couch, so I sat down and started telling him about everything that had happened up to that point. About halfway through my story, I realized that the dining/computer room was filled with people (about 30 or so), who all started singing the Lithuanian national anthem.
I woke up after that.

I had a dream similiar to that. I was held captive in some, what seemed to be a concentration camp, where the soldiers were having fun torturing the inmates, they put some kind of explosive on them and let them out the gate to see how far they could get before they blew up, it was fucked up. Me and 2 other inmates planned an escape, when they opened the gate we ran out, one of them got shot and me and the other guy split up and I was alone being chased through the snowy woods by soldiers with rifles, I woke up before I could see if I got away or not.

Last night I dreamt about this guy I fancied but turned out to be a total prick was visiting a seminar I was in, the location of which was a school gym, talking about how he needed everyone's help for his wedding. He didn't know anyone but me, however. And he had pig tails. What do you make of that, Dr Freud?

I had one about work like a week ago, I was just finishing my shift and closing the store and then I was like "wtf, theres like 600$ missing in the register?" and my boss came in and went "WHERE THE FUCK DID ALL THE MONEY GO, YOU STOLE IT" and then I woke up because it scared the shit out of me
I had a dream last night that I was pregnant :bored:
Also, I have dreams a lot of times that I'm not even in - sort of like a god's eye view of a situation that has nothing to do with me. Like watching a movie or something. It's strange.
Have you ever realized that you're dreaming and then you consciously wake up? I remember it once: I was some sort of samurai (I think I watched an episode of duck dodgers earlier, when he was a samurai :D) fighting against hundreds at a time. Then some flying creature comes along, I defeat it; then some other one, like a Cyclops rushed toward me and I kill it. Then a huge 7 headed dragon spitting fire rises out of nowhere and I'm like: Ok, a flying monster attacked me; I can dig that; then a Cyclops; no problem; but this is too much. Wake up, stupid, this is ridiculous. And I woke up

Oh hey I've had those, specially that one dream I remember vividly even though it happened atleast 3 years ago, where I turned into a serial killer. I went around in the night in a black spandex outfit with a red cape killing stupid people and family with thumbtacks. I left my mark by attaching a note with the imprint of a kiss (attached onto the body via thumbtack of course).

Sometimes I'm able to trick myself into experiencing lucid dreams, and they become more or less my mind's playground.

I never had reoccurring dreams, but I've had "premonition" dreams.
Yeah, seriously. I have encountered things or scenes that I have previously seen (or I thought I have) in my dreams. Not so much so these days, but several times when I was young. Like this one time in 5th grade, for half a minute or so I felt everything I encountered were a replay of one of my dreams---Everything that I saw, and everything my friends said, had already happened in that dream.
Weird, eh?
I read more regarding the subject later on. They say that I didn't, in fact, dream about these things, but instead things that happened triggered something in my brain and made me think I've seen this before. I'm half-convinced. Sometimes I could almost swear that I dreamt of it the day before. There might be another explanation.

I was a lone survivor in Zombies Apocalypse, the zombies are fast and doesn't twitch. They have to have enough blood to live, so some zombies doesn't attack me but just stand there and stare at nothing. If you hide your blood scent, the zombies won't attack you. Fucking awesome but at the same time a scary experience. You never know what come next.

I've had a dream like this too. I walked down some stairs and I see my dad and one of my aunts sitting at a dining room table and I say "So is this gonna be a nightmare or...?"
"Yeah it's a nightmare."
"Alright".
I go back up the stairs and leave and wake up.

I've experienced this sort of feeling before! Usually the feelings occur in close proximity of eachother and I only feel that way every few years or so. There was an entire month a few years ago where almost everything I experienced I thought had occurred in my dreams.
Oh: ^ and you guys up there are experiencing lucid dreams. It's when you consciously know you're dreaming, while dreaming. I experience them sometimes.

Time travel dreams (maybe "life regression" is a better term). I have them a lot.
Usually I'm back in some earlier part of my life. It feels so real. I had one of these dreams recently that felt like it lasted for days.
It's connected to the fact that I dropped out of high school. Ever since then I started to have dreams in which I was in high school again. I was going to school, sitting in class, walking the halls, talking to people.
Sometimes I have a dream where I'm younger than that. The point of the dreams is the idea I can live out my teenage years again. Because I was always lonely and depressed (still am).

I was explaining socialism to some attractive girl I am acquainted with. She was smiling and saying 'yeah' most of the time. It felt like one of those odd moments where you can't figure out if someone gives a shit about what you're saying or not, but it seemed more like she was listening. Another part of my dream involved a sandy area behind a barbed wire fence, the whole thing was probably around 50 metres wide from where I was standing and 30 metres long, mind you how big everything is can look pretty messed up in dreams. There were people inside and some casually doing stuff outside, the people inside were either playing soccer or fighting or something. I wanted to go in and join them and I figured I could get over the barbed wire fence but then I didn't because I wasn't sure if I'd be able to get back over again. Weird.

I only seem to get lucid dreams when something good happens, and in the dream I think, "Damn, this is only a dream.."
I often dream about my teeth falling out. They all start to wobble and I try to move them back into place with my tongue, but they all fall out and I have to spit them out. It always freaks me out. One time I had that dream, thought I'd woken up and it happened again!
I also get high a lot in my dreams. Last night I dreamed(dreamt?) about eating space cakes, and I was just starting to feel high when my alarm went off.

I have a dream that occurs on a regular sort of theme, and I think it's relatively common. A bit of background: when I much younger, I obsessed massively over ghosts and monsters and shit when I was asleep. I went through a stage once where I didn't sleep in my own bed for months on end (maybe around 6 months) and I just slept in my brothers or parents bed. Anyway, it's basically where I dream that I am asleep. So it's basically a dream within a dream if that makes sense. Once or twice it's been a dream within and a dream within a dream, and I have woken up a number of times. I had one last night where I was on the barrier between awareness and sleep, and in this one I couldn't move. Was quite weird, but not quite scary. And obviously it really seemed as though I was not asleep. And always when I have and dream within a dream I have a really disturbing sensation that I am being watched really really closely, and in the dream it feels like someone is inches from my face, breathing on me heavily. And I don't want to open my eyes (in the dream) because I don't want to wake up to a scary monster or some shit. Last night, a weird tap and scratching was featured on the window, which I didn't like and before there has been weird murmuring, flashing light, shuffling around in my room, and someone pulling at my sheets. This is all within the dream of course.
Another dream that I had when I was small that reoccured was really freaky. It always scared the shit of me. Basically, as my young self, I would find a strange garden, with weaving ivy and a dark sky, and it was always the same garden, and at the end of the garden was a round hut. Inside the hut there was always a witch with a green face that would cackle at me as I entered the hut, then chase me away, then I would wake up. This same scene repeated and repeated itself time and time again, until one night it finished with a man with a beard (possibly could have been my dad, I don't quite remember) coming along with a shotgun and shooting the green witch, and the dreams like that ended after that.
Other dreams often feature the same scenery/surroundings that pop up time and time again, and recently I have had lots of dreams about my ex-girlfriend, even if I dreaming about something totally unrelated, she'll just pop up now and then.

When I have to wake up early I often fall asleep again and dream that I've gotten up, washed and dressed and am ready to go. Its really annoying when I wake up again.
About one or two nights ago I dreamt that I was in what must have been the world's largest public pool. It was really wide and really deep and I was right in the middle of it, which was quite scary. And on one side was one of those floating house things you can get except it was the size of a real house and it was three stories high! That was strange.

A few years ago I think I had whats called a night-terror, as in my dream kept going even though I was awake. I woke up at like 3am, and I was completely frozen, couldnt move, but my eyes were open, and there was an alien on my desk (i have an irrational fear of aliens). I tried to scream but couldn't, I just lay there for five minutes or so staring at this alien, until it eventually faded away and I could move again.
For the longest time I kept considering that the alien was real and that I had been abducted, but then I read about night-terrors. Scary stuff though (I don't believe in alien abductions, but when you see an alien on your desk...)

Oh yeah, sleep paralysis. Someone I knew had to deal with that a lot.
Supposedly one of the most common visions people have while under sleep paralysis is an old hag (http://theshadowlands.net/ghost/sleep.htm) sitting on their chest, coupled with a can't-breathe feeling. Scary stuff.

Yea, it was definitely sleep paralysis, it was just like that page described, down to the feeling that something extremely sinister and evil was watching me. Thing is, I could see the "alien" in full view.
And I really shouldn't have read that website right before going to bed.:crying:

I had sleep paralysis once, but I didn't see anything that wasn't there.
I also once had a dream about collapsing, and I couldn't move, and my friends were standing over me, crying and saying "please wake up.." and then talking about how I was dead. I kept trying to talk to them but couldn't. Dreams are weird.

I had a dream where i was at my dad's funeral again, then i actually woke up with tears on my face. Crazy stuff.
This one dream that i remember quite fondly is of me having some pretty passionate love making with a woman in black lingerie and black wavy hair. We were making out so vigorously, rolling around a motel floor, with a gigantic, yellow moon outside a window, with our arms wrapped around each other as if we were wrestling or something- It was as if we had seen each other for the first time in years, even though i wasnt dreaming of a particular woman.
Also i had one where i was actually superman, flyin around and shit. Man it felt so real too! Then i woke up suddenly. I was pretty damn disappointed.
I dont have very many nightmares. None i can remember at least. This thread is awesome.

My most frequent dream is in fact, a nightmare, seeing as I'm an avid fan of Horror films :D. This one seems to me to have come from watching American Werewolf in London or something: I'm in a forest; it appears to be Fall due to the orange-colored leaves. There exists a mist that lingers above me. It is morning, as light is always shining through the trees and the Sun is never high in the sky. I begin to meander through the forest until I see a group of people running, frantically. They scream and cry and seek help. Existing in the forest are varying trees which contain small tree-houses with ladders leading up to them. The people desperately climb upward, knocking each other out of their way, and even pushing themselves of the ladders. Then comes what I conjecture they ran from: wolf-like beings that highly resemble the one as depicted in the American Werewolf in London film. All of the people knocked from the ladder writhe in pain on the ground as several of these creatures appear and begin to rip apart those unlucky lads. The creatures then begin to ascend on the ladders until they reach the tree house. My vision into the tree-house is blurred, however I hear wails and cries and see blood spatter out of the entrance. At this point I usually awake, and remember nothing beyond this point.
Creepy!

I'm a big fan of the horror genre, too, although I can't really remember any horror-themed dreams specifically.
I do remember a dream about Arnold Scharzenegger and myself being bank guards on a floating bank in the middle of the ocean. We were on the roof, and there were robbers trying to bust in and a big gun battle and such. It was wild, lol.

Sometimes after a night of hard drinking I'll have extremely annoying dreams of walking into a wall over and over again. I'll watch myself all night, just walking into the same wall but never do anything to prevent it.
It could be a sign that if i keep drinking I'll just be preventing myself from getting to the next chapter of my life. I'll be doing nothing but putting my body through pointless damage and do the same for the rest of my life without any control.:(
But then again it could just be the fact that I killed half my braincells just a few hours before.
