Millions of Iranians have been chanting “down with the dictator” and “down with clerical rule” and are yearning for freedom. Brutal suppression, leaving thousands killed, injured or imprisoned, has not managed to contain the explosive situation and the uprising of the Iranian people.

In order to extinguish the flame of resistance, Tehran’s rulers have stepped up suppression of the organised opposition People’s Mojahedin Organisation of Iran (PMOI). Its supporters are charged with “Moharebeh” (waging war against God) and executed. The regime is trying to annihilate 3,400 PMOI members residing in Camp Ashraf in Iraq. The resistance by Ashraf residents is a source of inspiration and hope for the Iranian people, in particular women and youths. At Iran’s behest, Iraqi forces carried out a deadly raid on Ashraf in July 2009, leaving 11 killed, 500 injured and 36 others taken hostage. The threat still continues.

The Iranian regime has become the major threat for peace and stability in the world by violating UN Security Council resolutions, continuing its nuclear weapons projects, warmongering and terrorist meddling in the region, and it has brought the world to the brink of war. Developments over the past year have clearly shown that the only viable solution to the Iran crisis is democratic change in Iran, and the Iranian people and resistance hold the key.

In solidarity with Iranian societies in Europe, US, Canada and Australia, as well as defenders of peace, democracy and human rights, we call on everyone to attend the huge gathering in Paris on Saturday 26 June 2010. We strongly support the “third option” declared by Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, president-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran, who has said no to appeasement of the mullahs, no to foreign military intervention, and yes to democratic change by the people and their organized resistance. This gathering shows the Iranian people’s determination for change and their support for the resistance. Gathering in defence of Ashraf and in solidarity with Iranian people’s uprising

We will be gathering to support PMOI members in Camp Ashraf. We demand that the UN takes over Ashraf’s protection, and US forces guarantee the prevention of repeated attacks and violence or forced displacement of the residents.
