Im curious to know, would the gangsters of the bloods crips, latin kings etc make up the lumpenproletariat? and if they do do they have any revolutionary potential? I believe according to Marx and Engels they would not, they may be swept into the proletarian revolution, but must be guarded against. Anybody care to help me out here?

For the most part, yes. The danger is they get hired to do strikebreaking, intimidation of workers, assaults on socialists, etc. when the situation gets toward revolutionary. Happened too many times in history to ignore it.

thanks for your viewpoint butha. iv'e noticed that so called "revolutionary groups" focus to much on the lumpen class and not on the genuine proletarian class. what do you think? do you think that is why America has not had a sucessful proletarian movement yet?
