Hi! I've been perusing for a while now and just decided to register. I'm still feeling my way around in the vast realm of leftist philosophy, so I don't know that I'm ready to categorize myself as anything but a neophyte at this point :( However, I'll be spending some time in the Learning forum to remedy that.
A little about myself- I'm from the mid-western US (currently in Michigan). My political views have been drifting steadily left since my teens. At this point, I consider myself anti-capitalist, but with some learning to do as to what viable alternatives are out there. I have always agreed with what I interpret to be the marxist statement of problem with respect to capitalism, that being an ever-widening socio-economic gulf between classes and the siphoning of power and resources (by design) to just one of those classes. However, I am only now really exploring possible solutions. I'm a relative n00b when it comes to economics, but I'm working my way through Das Kapital. Hopefully in a couple of months I'll be able to at least keep up with some of you. I guess I've just grown tired of saying "That's bullshit!" whenever the inherent injustices of capitalism manifest. Now I want to kill it.
Anyway, I'm glad to be here and I look forward to many enlightening conversations!
